Why We Should Feel Confident in Who We Are

We sometimes have a negative self image, but do we realize who we were made in the image of?

Why We Should Feel Confident in Who We Are
Mallory Varnum

My God, our God, the only God, the One that created everything we see, we know, we imagine, loves me and He loves you, and to me that is awesome. The God that literally took nothing and made something decided that this world needed you, He decided that in His infinite wisdom that you were a vital part of His plan, so vital that this world wouldn't be the same unless you were apart of it, so He made your exactly as He wanted you. God didn't need any help, from the beginning God has had you in mind and allows you to come to Him whenever you feel the need. God didn't just make you, He knows everything about you, the numbers of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7) and the number of tears you cry (Psalm 56:8).

Sometimes we feel so alone on this earth, we feel as if no one understands and as if everyone has left us lying in the cold, but God is right there assuring you, His child, that He hasn't moved a millimeter. God who created everything is looking at you and saying, “Hey I know that right now things don't make sense, and every thing seems to be falling apart, but I love you and I am right here to pick you up when it becomes to much.” There will be times when loneliness takes over our lives and it is in those moments that God wants us to look up to Him and ask for help, ask for comfort, and to ask for strength. God keeps His throne room open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, just that we can talk to Him whenever we need. He is never to busy and He never feels inconvenienced by our needs or our desires. God will never leave because you are one of His children and He hurts when His children hurt.

But not only does He never leave you, even though we continuously walk out on Him, He never stops loving you. I know for a fact that at times I am very unloveable, there are times when I am incapable of showing love to those who have hurt me because I am human, but God NEVER stops. God says to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” according to Matthew 5:44. God loves those who do not love Him, He loves those who blaspheme His name, He loves those who do not believe in Him, He loves us all. He loves each of us and we are the ones who hung His son on the cross and He loves us even though we continuously live in sin. Often times I find it hard to love someone who has been rude to me or made a hurtful comment, but God loves us when we crucified His only son and to me that is indescribable love.

Far to frequently as girls we feel so negative about ourselves and talk about ourselves in ways that only bring our self confidence down. We forget that we are made in the image of God, and if we are made in the image of the creator of the universe, we should feel nothing but beautiful from the inside out. The more we try to look like Christ the less alone we will feel but the more love we will begin to know. God created the entire world in six short days and He made you. He decided that in His infinite wisdom that you were a vital part of His plan, so vital that this world wouldn't be the same unless you were apart of it, so He made your exactly as He wanted you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
