Why We Are Already Missing Halloween

From costumes and candy to parties and pumpkins, there is something for everyone on Halloween, and that is why it is my favorite holiday to celebrate. This year's festivities came and went in a flash, leaving people everywhere missing Halloween a mere two days after it ended. Here are six reasons we are already missing Halloween and counting down the days until we can do it all again next year.

1. Costumes.

This is one of the only times a year you can dress as whatever you want and it be acceptable. I have been Ke$ha for the past four years, and no one has said a thing. Why? It's Halloween.

2. Candy.

Eating 567 Snickers is not frowned upon on Halloween. It is actually encouraged. Candy comas are real, people. So we are bound to be sad when we have to come back to reality and start hitting the gym and eating our vegetables again.

3. Parties.

Halloween is known as the time of year when fraternities and bars throw the best parties. You get to dress in comfortable clothes, there is always good live music, and everyone just wants to have a good time.

4. The movies.

Halloweentown will always be one of my favorites. I always end up watching the series every single year no matter how many times I have seen it, and it never gets old. Every TV station has endless Halloween movies that play throughout the month of October. As soon as Halloween is over, however, they all go away, which is a tragedy.

5. Haunted houses.

I actually hate this part of Halloween. I cannot handle anything scary, but my friends and family love going to these God-awful places that specialize in scaring the living mess out of you.

6. The Halloween spirit.

The whole month of October just has a different feel to it. Everything is a little spookier, and everyone seems to be just a little more excited. That Halloween spirit just takes over and fills the air with a new aura.

For these reasons we will miss Halloween with every fiber of our being until it comes around again next year. In the mean time, we can make due with Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I will already be planning out next year's costumes starting approximately tomorrow.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
