Everyone has reasons for what they do, and here are mine for why I made the decision to write for The Odyssey and the impacts it has had on me.

Why I Wanted To Write For Odyssey

Writing has always been something I've done to express myself, relax, and just have fun and writing for the odyssey lets me get my feelings out for others to hear instead of just in my journal which I keep tucked away next to my bed. I never thought that my writing could be seen by so many people and I mean who knows, I could write something that truly impacts someone's life and I would never have that opportunity if I wasn't a writer for the Odyssey.

No, I'm not writing this to convince others to apply to write for the Odyssey (but you should!). Writing for the Odyssey is something that I wanted to do for a while, but I was too scared. I felt that no one would like the things I wrote about and that I just wanted wouldn't be good enough for the job, but I was wrong. After my roommate joined I started thinking about it more and more until I finally applied. You have no idea how excited I was to find out I was accepted! I couldn't stop talking about it and all I wanted to do was update my profile and figure out how it all worked.

Having the ability to write about anything (pretty much) means that I can have fun with what I write or write about something important to me or what's going on in the world. It's an opportunity to just get my thoughts out there for everyone to see. This allows my once incredibly shy self to get out there for others to see, even in my own community. With the Odyssey becoming a club on my college's campus, I had the chance to get more involved in my school as well as more involved with Odyssey. Writing for the Odyssey isn't just about staring at a computer screen and typing away, it's about making new friends, getting involved, having your voice heard and that's something most of us want even if we won't admit it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
