Since 2010, I've been a Tumblr blogger. I've changed blog themes and have had roughly 5,000 followers but this website has been more than a status symbol or a waste of time, it has made me into the person I am today.
Tumblr is a community of communities. I have been apart of Fandom communities, Music communities, and now, I'm currently in the writing and personal blogging community. Using Tumblr has gained my confidence as a person and as a writer while also giving me a reason to live life a bit more simpler. In the past month, I started my new blog, bukowski.tk where I post my own writing, and I blog about things that make me happy, feel simple and at peace.
A lot of people believe that teenagers and young adults should stray away from the Internet and especially social media because it is a distraction and people believe that it is a waste of time. What people don't understand is, blogging is a job/hobby and it creates mental stability. Being apart of different communities on Tumblr makes one feel apart of something important. Being apart of something important makes someone feel important.
Instead of making the Internet and social media the villain, realize that these websites, apps, and blogs, are making people happy and giving them a reason to move on in life.
Without these things, we would have millions of teenagers and young adults feeling unimportant, uninvolved and unappreciated. I know from personal experience that when random people comment on a blog post or a picture that I posted, praising me, it makes my day.
Tumblr is and forever will be apart of me.
