Just a few months ago it was less than 10 degrees out and now in the middle of February the average temperature seems to be in the 50s. Yes, it may be great to be able to walk outside without a jacket and be able to drive with all the windows of your car rolled down, but I think that we're all forgetting that these unusual summer-like days are actually a problem and are a cause for worry. It may not seem like it but when the weather in Boston is currently warmer than in California and Las Vegas. That's a major cause for concern. No, these warm days aren't a sign of spring coming early. They're a sign of global warming.
Global warming is when the average global temperature increases at a faster rate than it should be linking it to extreme weather. With this being said, global warming has already caused some extreme changes around the world such as the melting of ice in Antarctica. With the ice melting so rapidly each year calls for concern regarding the polar bears. If the ice continues to melt at this rate while the sea levels continue to rise, polar bears will be without a home, and therefore they'll eventually go extinct. Also, higher than average temperatures especially during the summer months can cause an unusual amount of droughts in dry areas, tropical storms can become increasingly more dangerous than normal. Worst of all, an increasing number of droughts and stronger tropical storms will only lead to more deaths across the country.
This hazard isn't just affecting the United States though, It's affecting the whole world. All of the countries in the world are contributing to the pollution that's happening, and we all have to work together to reduce what could eventually destroy our planet. All countries have to work together to find a way to not depend on fossil fuels so much and need to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that get released into the atmosphere immediately. One of the main factors behind global warming is pollution, and if we don't put in a great amount of effort to cut down on the hazardous materials we do and start to care more, there won't be a place for us to live.
Global warming is a huge problem that we're facing right not, and any amount of help to reduce pollution helps. For example, carpooling or taking public transportation would help to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. Also, changing to energy saving household appliances and driving a high mileage car would be extremely helpful. You may not believe it, but every little bit of energy saving helps.
