As if the school year doesn't drain you out enough, after two long grueling semesters of hard work the pressure is on for the summer. Not just for any sort of job but for an internship. Something that will make you feel like a professional and help you figure out what it is you would like to do in life. But at this point, do any of us know what we really want to do? Half the time were wandering around wondering why we can't find a pair of clean socks. So around January we start the internship search, to find something to do during the summer besides sit at home or on the beach and that will ultimately pay off in the future.
1. Writing your resume.
Do you think by experience they mean babysitting the kid that lives down the street four years ago?
2. If that doesn't count, what other experience should I add?
Anything and everything.
3. Then it's time to start a cover letter.
Well, this is tougher then expected. Why should you hire me?
4. Brainstorming places to apply to.
Well if I like shopping there, maybe they have an internship?
5. What it feels like when applying to multiple places.
Here's everything about me and some experience, hire me.
6. Submitting your application.
And forgetting to change the company name on the cover letter.
7. When you get your first rejection from a company.
How? Why not? This is so frustrating.
8. You start having feelings of self-doubt.
Maybe this just isn't my summer to intern, I can do plenty of other productive things.
9. Suddenly, you get your first interview request.
Just when you felt like giving up.
10. You do some serious preparation for the questions they might ask.
Well, mostly serious.
11. Waiting, waiting and more waiting.
The anticipation is killing you.
12. Suddenly, you get an email from the employer.
It says you got the job! And no, it's not a mistake or a joke.
13. Then realizing the 9-5 part of the adult-world sets in to place, all summer long.
Good luck searching and applying everybody!
