Odyssey: Separating Conversation And Controversy
Odyssey

In recent weeks, we've all seen some pretty terrible, poorly-written, stereotypical, hateful, and downright rude articles coming from people at Odyssey. I'm here to tell you one thing, and that thing is that the Odyssey community is GOOD.

Odyssey is, obviously, meant for people to write their opinions, funny articles about whatever, share their stories and generally just to get their writing out there. Most people, including myself, write for fun. And no, we do not get paid every time you share our articles, for the record.

Odyssey is a community FILLED with brilliant, well-educated, nice writers. ONE writer who is abusing the power that Odyssey is giving her shouldn't change your opinion on the Odyssey. I and a lot of my friends write for this community, and we love it. We don't write hateful articles towards other people just to get attention. We don't write articles to "start a conversation". Because that is EXACTLY what this particular writer is doing. (Need proof? I'll show you). We, along with most if not all other Odyssey writers, write because we enjoy it.

It truly saddens me that someone who was given the power to share ideas and creativity in this great way is using it in such a shameful, horrible way. Odyssey was never created in order to attack people for honestly just living their lives. People make choices. They went to an SEC school, they joined Greek life, they are athletes, and that is FINE. That is what they chose. And it is never and WILL NEVER BE appropriate to attack people for their personal choices. It also is not appropriate to write an article attacking people while also saying why you are so much better than them because you're different. Here is a HUGE hint: You are not better than anyone else because you're different. You are not above everyone else because you don't like Greek life, don't like college football, or literally whatever the hell else you don't like that is considered mainstream. Let people live their lives and stop attacking them for liking or doing things.

With all of this being said, I hope everyone reading this chooses to continue reading and sharing other articles from other writers here at Odyssey. We genuinely enjoy writing and getting feedback from everyone that reads our articles. The rest of us are good, positive writers that want to be able to continue sharing our content with our community in a positive, respectful way.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
