We have, as a society, reached new lows. Now, I usually don't like to be topical, but I'm making an exception for this piece of garbage. "The Emoji Movie" is the worst movie idea that I have ever heard. Have you ever wondered "What if emojis could talk?" because I sure haven't. Did you watch that godawful trailer? Not only was the aspect ratio one of the stupidest gimmicks that I have ever seen (Get it! It's like video on an iPhone! Good job, animators of "The Emoji Movie." You're so smart and clever.), but the jokes weren't funny at all. Not only were the jokes not funny, they were almost actively unfunny.
Why is TJ Miller the star of this? Why is a talented comedian in this horrible, horrible movie? Well, the obvious answer would be money. Lots and lots of money. But what kind of studio gave "The Emoji Movie" the kind of budget necessary for TJ Miller to sell his soul? I mean, he's already making bank off of an extremely successful TV show and stand-up career. I guess the studio who would give this film such a large budget is also the kind of studio who would okay the actual name of this movie. That's right, it's not just being marketed as "The Emoji Movie." The movie's real name is "Emojimovie: Express Yourself." I don't even want to comment on that name, it's so stupid and infuriating.
And then there's this:
I'm just going to let you soak that in for a bit...
