After a long week, most people look forward to the stress free, lazy last day of the weekend, Sunday. And although it may sound great, I’ve come to the realization that Sunday is definitely the worst day of the week.
First offense.
Sunday marks the end of a three day reign of fun. From after class on Friday all the way to hitting your bed on Saturday night, the weekend is all fun and games until you wake up on Sunday. You feel exhausted and lethargic no matter how many hours of sleep you get the night before. I don’t remember a Sunday where I didn’t wish it was 5 p.m. on Friday again.
False relaxation.
As I already mentioned, Sunday acts as a drowsy infection that will cause you to feel like you never started your day. Late breakfast is fun and all, but for some reason it’s almost not as satisfying as your typical early morning coffee and egg sandwich. Sure you get a couple of hours of nap time in, but after you realize you have seven hours of homework you haven't started, you'll be lucky if you get five hours of sleep that night.
Non-satisfaction.
The is a huge difference between the expectation of what you will get done on a Sunday and what you actually do. We all say were going to work ahead, study for a test in advance and clean the entire apartment, but taking out the trash is about as far as you get. Even if you manage to wake up early on Sunday morning and actually go for a run, make breakfast, and do your homework, you still won't be satisfied by the end of the day because you will definitely get less done than what you told yourself on Friday.
Seventh day of the week.
In addition to everything else, Monday is the day after Sunday. Even when you get through the day on Monday, the next day is Tuesday. When you get through the day on Sunday, the next day is Monday. You decide which is worse.
Will you be well rested for the week ahead? No. Will you accomplish anything? No. Is Sunday anything it's made out to be? No. Let's just agree that Sunday is the worst and the only way to beat it is by setting your expectations for the dreaded seventh day of the week way lower.
