I know it’s crazy right? Just taking a second and using that muscle in your finger to press the off button on the remote made my whole day better.
The news is full of all of the negative in the world. This person was killed, that place is under attack, and we have no good candidate for the 2016 election.
Some people love watching the news and talking about all that is going on. And I get it, if you experience joy from that, and then by all means continue watching the news.
Personally, when I watch the news and realize that we may be at war with another country, I don’t want to talk to people about it. I want to crawl in a hole and find shelter in place.
Hearing the negatives of what goes on in the world causes me much unnecessary stress and anxiety.
This is the one any only time I will say this, “ignorance is bliss.” And this is coming from someone who is moderately feminist. I have rights, people have worked hard, fought and died for my rights and I am greatly appreciative for that.
But, it is my right to watch (or not watch) the news.
So, I am aware that people think it’s “crazy’ or “stupid” to not care about the news. I have heard it all before. But I don’t watch the news anymore and I am a much more pleasant person because of it.
If you are an avid Facebook user, you will see all the news headlines anyways. This way you can choose to read or watch what you want.
My challenge to the person reading this article is to not watch the news for one week and see how you feel. Notice the places that conversations take you that are joyful.
Another challenge, you’re going to be checking Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc., in this week, but find one inspiring article or video and share it with me and your friends. There are too many jaw dropping and inspiring things happening right now for them to be masked in the cloud of negative news headlines.
