Why Squidward Is Our Spirit Animal

Sometimes we just hate the world.

Growing up, most of us watched Spongebob Squarepants on Nickelodeon. If you didn't watch the show yourself, I'm sure you've heard of it. Like any series, we all had our favorites. Whether it was carefree and unique Spongebob, always confused Patrick, tough as nails Sandy, stingy Mr. Krabs, or even cute and somehow sarcastic without saying a word Gary, we all rooted for who we liked the best. While Squidward may have not been a favorite character among our younger selves, I think that it is pretty safe to say he is now our spirit animal. Sarcastic, stuck in a job he doesn't like, wishing for a better life, and hating the world--Squidward's life is familiar to many of us. Don't believe me? I'll prove it to you.

1. We all strive for perfection.

Whether it is on a class project, at work, or in life in general, we all strive for perfection in our lives even when it is not necessary.

2. We lose our patience quickly.

Sometimes people annoy us, especially on the days when nothing seems to be going right for us.

3. We're tired of people trying to set us up with others.

Family members, friends, they all do it.

4. We're always tired.

No matter how much sleep we get, it never seems to be enough.

5. We sometimes embarrass ourselves, and others, with our dance moves.

We may think we're cool, but we're not.

6. We question why we do things.

We make quick decisions that we soon regret. We go to events that sound more fun on paper than in person.

7. We love sleep.

Those naps we skipped in kindergarten? Yeah, we'll take those now. Sleeping is a great way to ignore all of our responsibilities.

8. We lose our minds sometimes.

School, work, a social life--who has time for it all? Sometimes we drive ourselves insane just from thinking about all of the stress we will soon face.

9. We may have trouble being on time every once in a while.

Sometimes life just gets in the way. At least we tried, right?

10. We cringe when we think about the future.

It's difficult enough to think about the present.

11. We care a lot about our work.

Art, writing, science projects--whatever we create, we love it like it's our child, critics beware.

12. Sometimes it seems like we're going nowhere.

Our everyday life just does not seem to be going up the way that we want it to.

13. We like money.

Money makes the world go round, or at least it buys food.

14. Most importantly, sometimes we are angry with the world and just want to be alone.

Sometimes, life sucks. People suck. Being alone seems like the best option.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
