I realized that all of my articles so far have been serious in one way or another, so I think it's about time to write something goofy! I just want to start this by saying that I in no way am a genius when it comes to the Marvel/DC universe. I have enough knowledge to hold a decent conversation, but I openly have a lot to learn on the subject, so please don't hurt me.

Secondly, there will be spoiler alerts (duh) in this article, so if you have not seen the movie and you don't want to know both important and unimportant information, you should go look at my other articles (please, either way.)

So honestly speaking, I believe that the new Spider-Man movie (Spider-Man Homecoming) is not only the best Spider-Man movie yet; I believe that it is the best superhero movie to come out this whole year, Don't @ me (or @ me, if you really want to). After this paragraph, I will go through a list of reasons why I believe this. Again, as per usual, this is totally my opinion, and if you feel that I do not know what I am talking about, you are entitled to your opinion. So, let's get started!

1. He Slacklines.

Well, I guess it is more along the lines of web lining (am I right, okay I'll stop). If you are unfamiliar with slacklining, it is almost like tightrope walking between two items, only instead of a stiff line, it is a slacked line! Slacklining has become more popular as time went on, appearing in The Office, my Instagram, and most recently Spider-Man Homecoming. This has no real value to it, I just loved seeing it (and so did my friends.)

2. Peter doesn't "Get the girl."

First big spoiler here, but this is true, Peter and his love interest, Liz, do not get together. In all honesty, she likes him less in the end than she did in the beginning, and I absolutely love that. In so many movies, especially superhero movies, the hero ends up getting the girl, and it has gotten to the point where it's almost expected. But this was definitely not the case with this one, as Liz was both moving (more on that later) and not very pleased with Mr. Parker.

3. He doesn't join the Avengers.

There are multiple reasons as to why I absolutely loved this movie. So I will tell them... ALPHABETICALLY! A) So many people wanted him to, both in the movie and in real life. So many actual people, like in real life, wanted Spider-Man in the Avengers, and right when Marvel had the chance, just like Donald Trump, they went with the unpopular opinion and didn't do it (but I liked this instance.) B) They offered him the coolest super suit ever (the scarlet spider suit), like for real look at this thing!

Well, I couldn't find a photo of it, I guess I'm a better writer than a researcher, oh well. But trust me, it's pretty cool, and he turns it down for this.

I respect that. Finally, he showed that he knows he is not ready for that life, and he decided to stick to his guns, which is a good lesson for everyone watching that they should be true to themselves. This is a very mature decision (Which I would most likely have not made.) which shows a great dynamic in Peter Parker as the movie moved on.

4. LIZ IS MOVING TO OREGON!

This one is mainly for my rock climbing friends, but we all have this running joke/plan about how we are going to move to Bend, Oregon because the climbing there is so nice. So naturally, when Liz said she was moving to Oregon, we all stared at each other and laughed for a few minutes (It's the little things in life.) This also, related to number two, means that she is all but dead in the romantic life of Peter.

5. The villain is viewed a human, with a backstory.

So many times in movies, the villains are viewed as these heartless monsters, but not this time. The main antagonist, the Vulture, is shown at the beginning as someone who is forced into this position. He openly didn't want to be a bad guy in the beginning, he was just trying to feed his family. This is very well representative of how in the real world people will often go to an extreme, and often illegal measures in order to try and live. Honestly, Vulture was not a bad guy, which is shown by the fact that he even defended Peter by saying he knows nothing about Spider-Man, even though Peter is the reason he is locked up in the first place. But, while we are on the topic of Vulture and his family.

6. Vulture is Liz's dad.

No one saw this coming, and if you're that one guy that claims he knew, I don't believe you. When Vulture opened the door for homecoming, the movie theater got quiet, you could literately hear everyone's jaw drop during this scene, and let me tell you, the whole house/car scene was perfect. It was awkward and intense (Like camping. get it?).

7. Donald Glover!

Yes, my favorite rapper Donald Glover (also known as Childish Gambino) makes an appearance in Spider-Man Homecoming. While he is only in two scenes, his laid-back style of comedy shines in those scenes, as he quickly takes the attention away from Peter. While he didn't make any Childish Gambino references, he did hint to his little cousin being Miles Morales when he says "my nephew lives in the area" in the scene pictured below.

While I'm talking about this scene, I just want to say that it may be my favorite scene in the whole movie. Never before has a hero done so poorly while trying to investigate/interrogate a bad guy that the bad guy has to help him out. often telling Spidey how bad he is at this. It was a fun twist on the usual "Macho superhero" thing Marvel likes to do.

8. Aunt May knows Peter's secret.

I know it was a big deal that Peter would have no "Spidey senses" in this movie, and we find out the biggest reason why the writer did this. The reason is so Aunt May could find out in the end that Peter is Spider-Man. This is something that the Spider-Man saga has never tried before, as Peter Parker always did his best to keep his identity hidden. This opens up the door for a plethora of questions that will hopefully be answered in the next installment! (Can we also talk about how this may be the first Spider-Man movie to never mention uncle, Ben?)

9. The Climbing.

Again, another super "I am Brendan and this is my opinion" one, but as a rock climber, I love climbing, and boy did this movie have some. One of the top scenes in the movie involved Liz and the gang trapped in the Washington Monument, where Spider-Man has to climb up the side of the monument and save them. Honestly, my hands were sweating watching this scene as he traversed up the monument. I mean, look at it!

Even he was scared! Of course, he got over it (and almost shot) but sometimes that what it takes to get the girl! (oh wait)

10. Tom Holland is the most relatable Spider-Man yet.

It is no secret that no Spider-Man really starts off popular, but by the end of the movie, they usually are more popular than they started. Not the case here, as Peter is still just as uncool and awkward as he was at the beginning. I believe that Tom Holland does an excellent job keeping his role as Peter Parker as realistic as possible for someone in Peters position (uncool genius).

While he still has some girls interested in him, *cough* Michelle *cough* he is more of a normal teenage boy than we have seen in the past as he is as, excited, awkward and anxious and a lot of boys his age are.

while I could go on for a few more, like how Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Deadpool should team up in a movie (they even take a stab at Deadpool when a few girls play a game in the gym where Liz says that she would like Spider-Man and her friend says "but what if his face is all burnt under his mask.") but I think that I have covered the parts of the movie that really stood out to myself and the people I went to see it with the first time (and the second).

Again, as stated early, I am no Marvel genius, and this is based on my opinion, so please don't yell at me!
