They hurt you right?
You never felt a pain so sharp.
You told yourself that you would never forgive them if they came back to you.
You thought they would never come back,
But they did.
It doesn't matter how long you were with a person, when you love someone time is irrelevant. But when they break your heart time slows down and you don't know what to do. People come and go out of your life and some are easier to let go than others. But when the person you had the hardest time letting go comes back with no warning you feel like it's the end of the world. Whether you see them out and they stop to say hi or it's something as small as a follow on a social network, their return hits you like a ton of bricks.
And you're left even more confused.
All those feelings you tried so hard to bury come digging back up to the surface. You start to ask yourself is it OK for me to give them a second chance? Is it OK for me to let them back in?
It is.
We're all human and being human we all have our flaws. I'm a firm believer in fate and when a person who made such an impact in your life comes back there's a reason for it. Now the reason may not always be the best, they could come back to show you how much you DON'T need them anymore. Or, they're back in your life to show you that without them a part of you has been missing. Sometimes, we need to grow apart in order to grow back together. Like an ivy plant where each stem grows on it's own but soon become intertwined to make something beautiful.
You should never be afraid to give someone a second chance to love you right.
Our generation is so quick to cut people off as soon as they make a mistake forgetting that nobody is perfect. There's nothing wrong with cutting toxic people out of your life but when someone comes back and you can see a visible change in the type of person they are and you want to let them back in, then do it. Don't listen to the toxic whispering of the people around you.
You know what's best for you
If there's one thing I learned over this past year is that you know yourself better than anyone else. Your friends, although they love you dearly, do not always know what is best for YOU. At the end of the day what should matter the most to them is your happiness and vice versa. Your true friends will support when everything works out or open a bottle of wine and listen to you if everything blows up in your face. At the end of the day your happiness depends on you.
So answer that text, listen to that message, give the person you love a second chance and see what beautiful things life has in store for you.
