Everyone has been there before: you've delayed your work until the very last possibly minute. As a professional procrastinator myself, I am familiar with putting work off until that last possible minute. Whether it be the paper due at midnight that you're only just starting at ten thirty or your weekly Odyssey article that you wait until Sunday night to start, procrastination is an integral part of your lifestyle. Us procrastinators take pleasure in waiting until the last possible minute. While some may see this as a problem I believe it genuinely pays off to avoid and delay completing certain less pleasurable tasks.
Procrastinators tend to have a better understanding whats happening in the world and are generally more knowledgable than those who do their work on time. This is due to the fact that we tend to scroll through social media and browse the internet rather than working on completing tasks. For example, before writing this article I opened all my social media apps at least once and perused each of them. I learned how to cook a chocolate chip cookie in a mug and read about the scandal going on between President Trump and former FBI Director James Comey. So I guess you could say us procrastinators are more cultured than others.
Procrastinators are also pros at working under stress. You're telling me that I have two hours to write a six page paper? Sure, no sweat. I work more efficiently knowing it's more of a do or die situation, there's more motivation to complete the task. I just love when teachers try to tell me "I'll be able to tell if you wrote the whole thing the night before". Don't they realize that writing papers and doing projects just hours before they're do is my speciality?
By procrastinating less pleasurable things I have more time to spend doing things that are more pleasurable. While some may choose to stay in and study for the big test coming up next week, I will do just about anything else. Why would you be studying when you could go out with friends or binge watch and entire season on Netflix? Plus if you start studying too early you'll forget everything! The night before is prime time to cram your brain with all the information you need to know.
As a procrastinator you know what it's like to be nocturnal. Pulling an all nighter is something you know all too well. Why waste small increments of time over a couple of days when you can bang it all out in one night. Just a couple cups of coffee and you're good for a whole night of studying. You can get way more things accomplished if you just never go to bed. Who needs sleep anyway?
Shoutout to my fellow procrastinators, we really do it best.
