Why My Pets Are My Best Friends

Pets are always there for you when you need them. You are a hero in their eyes.

Why My Pets Are My Best Friends
Emili Younkin

I currently have three dogs and two cats. I also have two fish but I won't include them in my ode to the animals.

This might be crazy of me to say, but every animal definitely has their own unique personality. First, there is Izzy. She is a black cocker spaniel and she loves attention. However, the puppy we have named Luna is a very jealous girl and does not like Izzy to get any attention. We have our boy dog Buddy and he is the most hyper animal in the world! He runs around as fast as possible to the point he nearly falls on his face. The two cats we have are Mischief Marie and Delia. These girls are polar opposites. Mischief is as friendly as can be and Delia is not very social. So yes, I think animals are all different personality wise.

So why are my pets my best friends? Well because they are always there. When I am having a bad day, I can count on more than one of them to give me a friendly greeting and cheer me right up. They can sense when your day has not been as great as usual. They will come over with a furry hug and kiss and let you know that they are there for you. They never ask for anything in return. You should just give them your love back in return. Taking care of them and letting them know you will never leave them is all they need. They won't ask for favors or expect anything from you. They will not go and tell your secrets. As weird as it seems, pets are the best to vent to. You can tell them anything and everything. They won't spill the beans! Pets look up to you. In their eyes you are their idol and hero. They want to always be around you because they love you. You are everything to them.

Like human best friends, they make you mad sometimes though. They may on occasion use the bathroom on the floor or rip up one of your favorite pairs of shoes, but that's alright. That doesn't change anything between you guys. You'll forgive and forget. Pets are easy to forgive too because they are so cute!

Pets are great travel buddies! Especially dogs. You can take them, if permitted, to your favorite spot and have fun with them. Here you can spend more bonding times with your bestie. Make memories that will last a lifetime. Oh, and don't forget to take a selfie!

Your pets might not always be there because sadly their lifespan is not as long as that of humans. However, those experiences will always live in your mind so the memory of your pets will always be there. No matter what you can always trust that your pets will be there for you. They can trust you will always be there for them too.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
