Nike shorts, or "Norts" as they have been nicknamed, are a staple across college campuses nationwide. Nort haters are quick to judge--calling those who wear the athletic shorts lazy, sloppy, unprofessional...etc. The list goes on. I have three words for you haters out there:

I'm a college student and I like to be comfortable. I have better things to do than stand in front of my closet for 20 minutes trying to put together a nice outfit to "impress" other classmates.

As I reflected on my wardrobe choices this past year, I realized that I wore Norts almost every day. Was I happy about this? Definitely. Did I feel bad for not "dressing up" more? Absolutely not. For all of you Nort critics out there, here are six reasons why Nike's beloved 3 Tempo running shorts trump almost every other article of clothing.

1. Comfort.

This is the most important reason. I don’t know about you, but I like to live a life of comfort. Why waste your life wearing tight and constricting shorts, or even **cringe** jeans, when you could be wearing fantastic, elastic-waisted shorts sent from the Gods above? When you’re comfortable, you’re more confident. Who wouldn’t like a little confidence boost? Your clothes shouldn’t need to speak for you – let your inner confidence shine through!

2. Versatility.

Don’t lie to me. I know most of you have worn Norts at least some point in your life. One of the greatest things about these clothing masterpieces is their versatility. Going to class? Throw on a pair of Norts. Heading to the gym? Norts. Running errands? NORTS. Going to a fancy event where it would be socially unacceptable to wear norts and a baggy t-shirt? NORTS UNDER YOUR DRESS. If you are a Nort fanatic like me, you will find a way to incorporate Norts into almost every part of your wardrobe.

3. The Colors!

The colors and patterns on these beauties are just impeccable. I normally wear one of my several pairs of black Norts, but when I want to spice it up, I have several options available to me. Nike makes their shorts in almost every color imaginable, making them perfect to match with your desired t-shirt. The possibilities are endless!

4. You Can Be Up For (Almost) Anything.

College is unpredictable. Without the disapproving eye of parents, spontaneous trips to the beach after class do happen frequently. (Sorry, Mom!) Wearing Norts allows me to be ready for almost anything. Whether this involves a trip into the city or a beach/exploration day, I am normally always ready to go! It’s pretty much impossible to run around on the beach in jeans, right?

However, **sometimes** there are events where wearing Norts is not acceptable. Ugh.

5. The Fabric!

Let me tell you, these shorts are made from the fabric of the Gods. Nike’s Dri-FIT material is a godsend. If you wear your beloved shorts to the gym or just sweat a lot in general, this fabric helps keep you dry and cool. What more could you ask for?!

6. Camaraderie With Fellow Nort Enthusiasts

Nothing brings girls together quite like clothes do. When I walk into a classroom and spot a fellow Nort wearer, I immediately think "wow, she's got it going on. She likes to stay comfortable and relaxed too! What a champ." In fact, I bonded with my now-college best friend over Norts, and how we wear them almost every day. See? Norts sparked a true friendship. Don't underestimate their powers.

Shine on, Ladies, and keep wearing your Norts. Stay comfortable and don't let the haters bring you down.
