During our childhood, most of us have that one superhero who we look up too. That superhero fills our imagination with hope and a sense of adventure. Everything they do, we hope to do as well. Personally, my favorite superhero was Superman because I love everything he stood for (and not to mention he looked great while doing it). As I got older, I started to realize all of the modern day superheroes more so than when I was a kid. Modern heroes including fireman, policeman, doctors, missionaries, and my personal favorite, my mom. All of these people wake up every day of their lives trying to make the world a better place than the day before. My mom on the other hand, woke up every day trying to give me a better life than the day before.
As I grew up, I faced different challenges and problems that ranged from friends, boys (still have those problems), school, appearances, or finding out who I am supposed to be. Some days were better than others, and others were more challenging, but one thing that remained was the love and support from my mom. I am always inspired by my mom, she is so beautiful, spiritual, kindhearted, and not to mention a hard worker. She is so graceful when it comes to handling tough situations, she handles them in the most calm and rational way. My mom takes time out of her day to hear about my problems and try to fix them when she has her own set of problem to deal with. Whether it be encouraging words for when I have a bad hair day, what to say back to a boy when he sends a flirty message, or when I get “hangry”, she always has a solution. When I am about to go out with friends, I always run to her room for a second opinion on my outfit. Most of the time she loves it, but then other times she will give me “the look” and that is when I know my outfit looks terrible and I have to start over again. She will remind me that I wore a certain outfit a few weeks ago because of pictures on Facebook, and I cannot be photographed in the same outfit only a few weeks apart. I like to call her my “Mirror of Truth” because the truth is the only thing that comes out of her mouth.
The tougher times I have faced in my life I could not have made it without my mom. Every time I turned around, she was there waiting with open arms. Every heartbreak or failure I have ever had, my mom picks me back up again to help me start over. A true superhero tries to fight crime and save people, and my mom just tries to pick up the pieces of a messy situation and makes it whole again. Everything I have accomplished is because of my mom. She showed me things I never thought could be possible. So many of my dreams have come true, and I am not even to the best time of my life yet. She taught me how to be beautiful on the inside and out, graceful, and how to keep a smile on my face even when things get tough. My mom is my superhero because of these reasons. It takes a special person to do all the things she does, and I believe she is the biggest blessing in my life.
Thank you for everything you do Mom, you are the perfect superhero. You fill my imagination with hope and a sense of adventure. I hope one day I can be just like you and have all your strengths that God gave you.
