Some might say having a sister is a blessing and curse. I can solemnly confirm that this is nothing but false. Without my big sister, I wouldn't be half of who I am today. She is the reason I know how to make a resume. She is the reason I know how close of a relationship humans can have with one another. She is the reason I am aware that everyone has a soulmate. You, sister, are my forever soulmate.
Don't get me wrong; I do not intend that I don't have another soulmate out there of which I will someday marry, I just mean that my sister thoroughly completes me. We are two different people. We are the same. How can that be? Well, to begin, many say we have the same laugh. When they say that, I can't help but look at you in the way we always do and smile. I feel completely honored that people see me so similar to you. You are such a beautiful, compassionate, and smart woman. I aspire to be you in every way.
However, we also have our differences. You are detail oriented and consistent. I am tremendously spontaneous and go-with-the-flow. You worry about all the little things. I reassure you they don't matter. Sometimes I get a little too carried away with one part of my life, and you teach me that balance is everything. Well, let me explain, together our adventures are spontaneous yet outlined. I know the rest of our lives will be this way too.
Not to mention, you are my go-to for everything. We like to do the same things. Who else likes ice cream as much as I do? Who else would order three desserts just for the both of us cause we can't decide what we want? Only you. Your the only one who I could never feel guilty with while indulging in these foreign goods. Not just food, though. You are my go-to for when I need advice. Or just want to talk. I can never compare our relationship to any other; I just don't go together as well with anybody else. You are my other half; you complete me.
You aren't just my other half, though; you are my inspiration. I'm sorry I used to steal your clothes every day and put them on in the car after we left for school. It's because I just truly wanted to be you. Furthermore, I want to thank you because your fashionista self is probably the reason I stopped wearing sweatpants to school. Not only that, you helped mom shop for my birthday presents which meant I liked every single one. Moreover, because of you going to school in Los Angeles, I have discovered my relentless love for that city. So thank you, for just being you.
As the years go on, our relationship just gets closer and closer. You show me the ins and outs of LA, and I show you how we live up in Washington. We're in two different states year around, yet I can feel our relationship growing every second.
Having a sister is a blessing you can't put into words. They're the ones who were with you through your awkward stage and never left your side. They're the people who made you overcome that awkward stage, and led you to do bigger and better things.
To my traveling buddy, adventure buddy, and inspiration: I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for your careful guidance. I appreciate your flaws because I feel like I can help you correct them. I am comforted by knowing that you will love me through my own flaws. Together, we are one. I love you, my big sister.
