Coming home from college and away from all your new friends can be a big change, I know that it was for me. Not being able to walk five feet from your door and running in to one of your floor mates was one of my favorite things in dorm living. Now that I am back I get to be with all of my high school besties. Whether they were in college like me or still in high school, I am so glad to be back with all of them.
I never knew how much I would miss my best friend. Leaving her behind was one of the hardest things I had to do, but I couldn't help it. I missed having movie nights where we did more talking than actually watching the movie, the long talks about the boys in our lives, and most importantly her presence. She is always my shoulder to cry on and my rock.
I also didn't think that I would miss my 'squad'. I really did miss our zany little adventures on random days. They were always there if I wanted to go get some ice cream or for a mini-date. If we are ever together, watch out, we get pretty crazy when we are out on the town. Those girls are also the most genuine girls in the world, there is no one else I would want to have be my closest friends than those women.
Then you have your typical guy best friend. He has always jokes about everything, but when it comes down to it; he is the most caring guy you know. He knows all of my secrets and I know all of his. I never would have thought in a million years that having a study hall together would have made us this close of friends, but I'm glad it did. I missed all of our long drives, life talks, and our jam sessions in the car.
Then comes the BFF who is at a different college. She and I have gotten so much closer when high school ended, it was the best thing that has ever happened to us. This girl were the lone two seniors in basketball and that is where our relationship blossomed. From random nights out to getting tattoos together, she became my go to person. We were pretty far apart from each other during the year, but I am looking forward to the memories we are going to making this summer.
Having all of these friends surrounding me while being home is one of the best things I could ever have. I am so glad that I have these forever friends in my hometown. They have been with you through every good and bad thing that has gone through your life. Chances are they will be there for more of them.
No matter what best friend you came home to from college, or if you came home to the same best friends as me; you know that they will always hold a special place in your heart. No matter where life or school takes you, there will always be home.
