I have loved Taylor Swift since she started in music. I have been a fan for as long as I can remember. Her songs in the beginning were OK, but I mostly fell in love with her attitude. Thankfully, she has made a complete change. Her new songs, especially the ones on her "1989" album, are full of spunky girl power! Not only is she a talented singer, but she actually cares about her fans and the world around her! Here are five reasons that Taylor Swift is one of the greatest singers of our generation.
1. She shakes it off.
She doesn't let the hate get to her and she has no problem writing about it! Her attitude is so positive and contagious. I really respect her for not letting other people get her down no matter what they have to say, because we all know that there are haters everywhere. She also silently donated tons of money to another pop star, Kesha, while she was having an emotional legal battle with her recording company. Instead of calling attention to her act of kindness, Taylor kept things on the down low.
2. Her style is classic.
Her red lips and bright, blonde hair scream "classic" to me. She wears the look better than anyone I know. Let's face it... She has come a long way since she began her music career (blue eyeshadow, cowgirl boots, etc.) (*clears throat*) But it's OK,Taylor. We've all had our moments. We all had an old school Taylor Swift fashion phase at some point in our lives.
3. She truly cares about her fans.
I constantly read positive articles about how Taylor Swift donated money to a terminally ill fan, or how she attended a fan's birthday party because she received an invitation from her. She has also been known to send gifts and letters to fans. She even has a Tumblr set up to keep in contact with her fans on a personal level. She will call fans on stage and even invite them to hang out after the concert backstage. I even read an article about her donating thousands of dollars to one of her backup dancer's nephews that had cancer. These are just a few examples of her endless generosity.
4. She can laugh at herself.
Her music videos are hilarious and I love that she makes fun of herself in some of them. She twerked in her "Shake It Off" music video. In another music video, "Blank Space," she jokes about how people see her when it comes to dating. She has no problem having a little laugh at herself every now and then.
5. Her music is amazing.
I absolutely love Taylor Swift's songs. I love her older music, but especially love her newer songs. The lyrics are empowering and say exactly what is on most girls' minds. I can't speak for everyone, but I think she can relate to girls of all ages in today's society. Her lyrics are easy to sing and dance to in the car, or while you're exercising or singing in the shower. There really isn't a bad time for Taylor Swift.
In my heart, I will always be a Swifty.
