Summer is such a wonderful season. Allergies are not nearly as bad because pollen is down. The sun is shining and the temperature is perfect for a swim. Campfires during late summer nights are great! And almost anyone who is still in school is off. Summer is the time to relax by the pool and work on a golden tan. Or travel to the beach to catch some intense sun! Summer is for traveling together on a vacations to new places or old places that you just seem to love. Spending time with family and catching up with old friends are both fun activities during the warm months. Summer is also for staying up a little later because you don't have to work the next day and the sun sets a little later. So relax and enjoy an ice cold pop by the pool!
Not only can summer be used for relaxing, but it can also be used to get ahead. Some people spend their summers planning for the fall semester. Planning club events, gathering necessary school supplies, buying textbooks (OK, this one might not be all that fun), shopping for new clothes (much better!), and starting a healthier lifestyle are all different things you can do in the summer! With a little more free time than usual, getting ahead of the game is key.
Or some people spend their summers working to help pay off college debt or just have a little extra spending money during the year. Maybe they want to travel abroad so they pick up an extra job in the summer to save up. Some find summer internships to plan for their future careers and give them job experience. Others cannot escape school and pick up a summer class or two to get ahead in school or get caught up in a new major. They have the freedom to do that in summer where during the school year, things can get really hectic.
One of the best things to do in summer is got out for froyo or ice cream late at night because it's hot outside! Who doesn't love sugary desserts at 10 p.m. with friends and family? I know I do! Or for those who like to stay inside some days, binge watch your favorite series on Netflix on rainy days. Or maybe start a garden project have some fresh grown vegetables right at home. Summer can be a time to volunteer at a local food bank or maybe start a clean up crew around your city. The possibilities are endless. But I love summer because young adolescents have a little more time to do these things. We impact a lot more things outside the classroom than from textbooks and difficult exams. Summer is a great time to make a difference and relax at the same time.
