How Celine Dion's Music Has Touched My Life
The Star

Celine Dion is my all time favorite artist. I've been one of her biggest fans since I was eight years old. The album "All The Way- A Decade of Songs" is the first album of her's that I listened to.

Ever since then, I’ve been hooked on her music.

After that, I bought all her English albums. I memorized the songs off many albums, especially, "All The Way". I started performing them for my friends and family at age nine.

Dion is the one who inspired me to sing at a young age. I want to be just like her and be on stage in front of thousands singing my heart out.

Some may not know these facts about Dion: She named her twins Nelson, after Nelson Mandela and Eddy after Eddy Marnay. One of her most celebrated song covers is Cyndi Lauper’s “I Drove All Night”. She was named after the song “Celine”, by Hugues Aufray, another French singer.

She has donated more than two million dollars to help with the relief efforts of Hurricane Katrina and the Asian tsunami of 2004. No one can ever match Dion's vocal power. That's why she was given a record deal at age 12. Not many people can have that experience to put on their resume.

I will never forget singing "Power of Love" at my great aunt’s house on Christmas Day. I stood at the top of the stairs and belted it out with the song quietly playing behind me. Everyone in my family was impressed with my singing ability. I credit the ability to God.

The songs I practice the most are, “The Power of Love”, “Because You Loved Me”, “I’m Alive” and “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now.” There is nothing like a great song by her to relieve my stress. I love to test my vocal range and power while singing her hit songs.

The songs make me want to sing in front of large crowds, and they also help me escape the pressures of reality. To be able to sing her songs is to have moments of freedom in my life, no matter what may be occurring.

Celine, you have inspired me and put me in awe with your vocal power, your love of family as well as your commitment to your career and your family. How you balance your life is amazing.

You're the singer I admire the most. Your sense of style can't be beaten, and you are flawless in every aspect of dress and vocals. You amazed me with the way you came back to Vegas only a month after Rene's death. The way you stayed with him through his entire battle with cancer made me strive to be there for the people in my life no matter what. The bond you have and had with Rene is unmatched.

When I found out you were coming in concert to Cleveland in 2008, I couldn't believe it. Quite honestly, I never thought you'd come to Cleveland, or that I'd have the chance to see you in concert. I found out I had gotten tickets for your concert on Christmas morning in 2007.

I hit the ceiling, screamed my heart out and ran to hug my grandma. She gleefully laughed at how shocked I was to get the tickets because she knew how much I wanted to see you live. She wanted to see you as much as I did and we were able to go to your concert together. I couldn't wait for September 24, 2008. The year couldn't go any slower waiting for the "Taking Chances" world tour to be in Cleveland, Ohio.

To see you on September 24, 2008, was a dream come true. Your first song was "I Drove All Night." The dresses you wore during the show were incredible. To know that you were right there in front of me made me cry in happiness. I’d dreamt of seeing you in concert for so long. I couldn't believe I was watching you sing live in person.

You and your background singers were incredible. The way you sang the duets of "I'm Your Angel" and "The Prayer" left me speechless. The encore for the night was none other than your biggest hit of all time, “My Heart Will Go On”. I was in awe the entire concert. So were my grandma, aunt and my mom. The energy during the entire show was electric. I didn’t want the night to end.

It has been on my heart and has been one of my biggest dreams to sing with you one day. I've heard most fans would want to sing, "Because You Loved Me," with you, Celine, but for me it's different. The songs I've always wanted to sing with you are, “A New Day Has Come”, "I'm Alive", "To Love You More" and "It's All Coming Back to Me Now".

To sing any of those songs with you would be incredible. I would be honored to have the chance to share the stage with you. To meet you in person would be a dream come true.

I have always wanted to interview you in person as well. Some of the questions I have for you are:

How did it feel to know you'd landed a record deal at age 12?

What did it feel like to perform for the first time in front of thousands of people?

What is your favorite English song to sing?

What keeps you loyal to Rene and your love for him?

Do you ever get nervous performing in Vegas? How do you get over any fear you may have?

How has your faith influenced your life?

How do you keep the passion for singing going after all these years?

Who is your favorite artist to sing a duet with?

Is there any artist that you haven’t done a duet with, that you want to do a duet with?

What is your favorite cover song that you’ve ever done?

What is your favorite song to sing when you’re alone?

Why did you hate the song “My Heart Will Go On” so much at first? I remember seeing an interview where you said you told Rene you weren’t going to sing it. What changed your mind?

Celine, thank you for inspiring me with your songs, your caring nature, your unbelievable talent and the inspiring, encouraging lyrics behind your songs.

Thank you for releasing amazing songs that have helped shape me into who I am today. Thank you for some of my all-time favorites such as, “A New Day Has Come”, “One Heart” and “I’m Alive". These songs and others, including: “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”, have helped me strengthen my vocal range and become a better singer.

If it hadn’t been for you, I wouldn’t have the desire to sing the way I do now. I wouldn’t love music and feel the music the way I do today. I may not ever be a famous singer like you, but your music has touched my life in ways that no one else’s can. The lyrics in your songs speak truth, purpose, strength and courage. The way you sing never ceases to give me chills.

I can’t go a day without listening to your music. Your songs always put me in a fun, content place. When I sing them, it feels as though you are right there next to me. Please make a new English album soon so I can learn and memorize new songs.

You will always be the number one diva of singers in my book. Keep being the powerhouse singer you are.

Thank you for helping me through so many hard times with your music. Your songs give me the strength and courage to face whatever comes my way head on.

What makes your music even more special is sharing the love of your music with others in my life. I love you, Celine! Please come back to Cleveland, Ohio sometime soon. I really hope I get to see you live in Vegas and to meet you one day!

Love,
Your Biggest Fan

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
