Why I Love Being Told I Am Just Like My Mom

I Am So Blessed to Have Such a Wonderful and Inspiring Mom

Why I Love Being Told I Am Just Like My Mom

I was truly blessed with THE best mother on the planet. Ever since my two siblings and I were born, she has had a handful when it comes to all of us. But, that is what makes me so inspired by her! She puts up with a lot from us and she still remains so calm with us all (most of the time J, hahah love you mom!). Ever since I’ve been little, I have always been closely compared to my mother. Not only are we both redheads, but she understands my humor and sarcasm which I am so thankful for. She is the sweetest, most caring and loving person I know, and I am so blessed that I have a mom and a role model like her in my life! Here are some of the many reasons as to why I love being told I am just like my mother.

She is encouraging.

Not only are my siblings and I all crazy busy, but she always sacrifices her time and her activities that she enjoys doing to make sure we are able to do what we love. Because all of us have always been involved in everything from sports to the arts, she has made sure everyone got to be involved in as much as we wanted (or as much as our busy schedules could handle)! I am so lucky to have been involved in everything I was, whether it comes to playing instruments, singing or dancing! Although somedays I would want to quit or just give up, she would always be there to encourage me and help me to reach my goals. Without her, I would have never been so successful in everything I decide to do.

She understands my sarcasm.

I am such a sarcastic person. Although lots of my friends and I have very similar sarcastic attitudes, my mom is the only person who fully gets my sarcasm (I don’t know why not everyone does, I’m hilarious). Of course, I know I got my sarcastic attitude from my mom. She helps keep me sane when I am having a rough day and I can always count on her to be there to laugh with me rather than at me.

She’s so freaking pretty; she still looks like she is 30 (because she is). You're welcome, mom.

Enough said.

She’s my best friend.

I am so lucky to have such a good relationship with my mom. Through my “troubled” junior high and high school years, instead of shutting her out, I came to her and it changed my high school years. It then made her and I have such a better and stronger relationship that I am so thankful for. She still does act like my mother in the best ways, but I also get to go to her as her friend rather than her daughter sometimes, which is relieving at times. Being away at college has taught me that making new friends is very challenging. But when I’ve had a tough day, I know I can call my mom and she’ll make me feel completely welcome and loved. If she wasn’t my mom, I know she would still be in my life as a really close friend or mentor.

I am so thankful for you and all you do.

So to conclude all of this, why do I love being compared to my mother? She is such a strong role model and motherly figure in my life. Without her by my side for all 18+ years of my life, I would not truly feel whole.

Mom, I love you so much and am so thankful for everything you have sacrificed to get me to where I am today. I know I will never be able to fully repay you for everything you have blessed me with over my lifetime, but I am going to try my best to be successful in all I do, not only for me, but for you. I know I am currently away at college and that I am enjoying my new life here and making all new memories, but know that not a day goes by where I think of you and wish I was sharing this with you!

I love you so much!

Your daughter

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
