Why I Love Anime
Catherine Hillman

Now a days, when you ask someone what is their favorite show in America, it will most likely be a show that was made/produce in America. Yes there are the good old cartoons like SpongeBob, Tom & Jerry, The Looney Tunes and etc. and also good reality shows/dramas like The Flash, Bad Girls Club and the Housewives show. But we haven't give anime a chance. Yes it is very different from the shows that we see in America, but the reason why anime is becoming known to the teens and children of the past few generations, but not many adults know what it is. Anime is a style of animation that was created in Japan and that uses colorful images, strong characters and stories that have a lot of actions. Yes, they are shows in America that do show this, but in my opinion, Japan did a better job expressing it. Here is my story on how I got into it.

Well, I didn't just one day decided that I was going to just go online and just look up anime and watch it. I actually introduced to it at a young age, let's say around 1st or 2nd grade. My brother was watching a show called Dragon Ball Z, which look really cool to me. Back then, I wasn't one to be a fan of a fighting anime, plus the story was a little hard to understand, but after watching that one episode, I knew this was a show that I want to get into. After watching its prequel series Dragon Ball and its sequel series Dragon Ball GT, I wanted to watch similar shows like this. Ever since that moment, I became a huge fan of it and wanted other people to give it a chance to. There are just so many genres of anime and different types of it, that you will never run out of things to watch.

I wish that was the case though since most people don't want to watch anime. The main reason I think that people won't watch anime is the fact is that they think that the target audience is only for children which brings out the saying, 'Anime is for children, not for teens and adults' and that anime is known to be only about fighting. Both of these cases, both statements are false. Anime, even though it does target a kid audience, it interests people of all ages. You just have to explore the different types of anime because they are just anime that targets just a children audience, but there are anime that targets teens and adults audiences as well. The second point of how anime is only just about fighting, that is 100% not true. Fighting anime are just one of the most popular genre that people see the most on TV. There are many types of genre from drama, comedy, romance, supernatural, horror and etc. In anime, anything can happen! There is no such thing as the law of physics so there will always be some type of excitement happening.

In the end, anime is something fun, interesting and exciting to try out on one of those rainy days or lazy days and you can't find something to do. Go online to any anime showing websites like Kissanime, Crunchyroll, Hulu or etc. to just search up some anime that seems exciting to you. You won't regret it. I fell in love with watching anime because I found different types of anime that have plot twists, pressing dramas, a lot of suspenseful moments and falling in love with the endings of the show no matter if it's good or bad. There is always a reason for why things happen. So give it a chance, you might actually find a new hobby.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
