Living on campus has it's pros and cons, but in all honesty, the pros definitely outweigh the cons in this situation. The cost might be astronomical but never forget the reasons why you chose to live next door to your classes.
You meet a lot of new people.
These people are searching for those who are in the same situation as you are, so you are most likely to meet more people in your first week of college than your entire career of high school. It's also always nice to have someone to study with or run to the store last minute with. Social life is just another key part in the college lifestyle.
The meal plan.
The meal plan may be costly, but you always have a source of food right outside your door. The food may not always be amazing, but you shouldn't ever have a reason to be hungry as long as you keep track of your swipes, that is if you didn't get the unlimited plan of course.
Traffic, or the lack thereof.
No matter where you live, the weather and traffic patterns can vary, leaving you 15 minutes of extra time to park one day, or sprinting in 5 minutes late another. Living on campus gives you the freedom to wake up at a similar time every morning, no longer having to worry about this extra factor of commuting.
8am classes aren't as dreadful.
You can honestly wake up 20 minutes before class, throw on some sweatpants, and walk out the door. Grab some breakfast on your way over and possibly even make it to class early. That's the luxury of living on campus, There's no need to wake up at 6am for an 8am class anymore.
Naptime, anytime.
Have an hour before class? Naptime. Have 25 minutes before a volleyball game? Naptime. Already napped for 2 hours? More naptime. You're bed is practically neighbors with your classroom.
More time for studying.
Cannot stress this enough. Living on a farm or having many siblings can only be a few factors in taking away precious study time. Living on campus, away from these extra stress creators immediately frees time up for extra study and homework time.
Doing what you want, when you want. Well kind of..
Freedom. Having your weekends completely free, along with your afternoons, is something not every high school student had the joy of doing. Going out to lunch is something you practically do everyday now, and hanging with friends after class becomes a new normal.
The stresses of living at home are at ease for a few months.
Home is a lovely place, along with being with family, but everyone needs a break at some point in their lives. Just think of living in a dorm as an extended vacation, where you no longer have to worry about cleaning up your room for family dinners or spring cleaning, although cleaning up for room inspections is a must.
