In a few days I plan to move to a new state were I wont know anyone. So this week I have been doing what any normal young adult would, spend as much time as I can with all my friends. As this went by, I received a text from one of my good friends from high school who wanted to meet up before I left. I was so excited because since me and my friend, Manny, had left high school we didn't get to spend as much time together. I then started to remember how each moment with Manny was always so special. So as the time finally arrived for one our "friendship dates" as we called it, we went and sat at our favorite place to get cokes and catch up on our lives, talking about all the things we have been through. Even though all my times with Manny were far and few, I have decided his friendship is a big reason why I am where I am today. So lets see why it's important to have this life long friends.
1. They encourage you to go out and try new things
Every solo I sang, every club I joined, any every boy I decided to date Manny encourage me to go for it. He was even the one of the few friends that supported me when I went Greek.
2. They watched you grow into the person you are today, so they understand stuff your current friends may not get.
I can't even count how many times I've snap chatted or texted Manny random moments of the day that we would both laugh at. When listening to old songs or movies that so many important moments attached to them, it is hard not to reach out to them.
3. They are always there for the good.
Got a new job? Passed a really hard class? Started a new chapter in life? Manny was always one the first to congratulate me on my success, ready to celebrate with me.
4. And the bad.
Relationship troubles? Someone passed away? Times are just really tough? No matter what, I could always count on hearing from Manny and have him there.
5. No matter how much time has passed you can pick up where you left off.
The hard part about growing up is that you don't get to see your friends every day, but every moment you get feels like no time has passed, and that is, honestly, the most important part of any friendship.
