Since summer is finally here, many families are starting to reappear on the lake fronts that they enjoy so much. In the summer, lakes offer so much fun, action and quality time with friends and family. Whether it's going for a refreshing swim or having a family cookout, lake life is certainly the best life for many reasons!

1. Quality Time With Your Family

School and work often preoccupy a family's schedule for majority of the year and prevent them from spending a lot of quality time together. At the lake, families are able to relax, talk and enjoy their time together in a comfortable setting. Spending time with your family is a major part of life on the lake.

2. Barbecues and Cookouts

Nothing tastes better than hamburgers and hot dogs cooked on the grill or a sweet piece of watermelon to replenish yourself after a hot day outside. Having cookouts and barbecues are a great way to bond with everyone and the best way to fill your stomach!

3. Boat Rides

Boat rides are one of the best things to do on the lake! It is so fun to just cruise around with the wind in your hair and the water occasionally splashing you to cool you off. Boat rides are an essential part of lake life.

4. Water Tubing, Water Skiing and Wake boarding

Water tubing and skiing, as well as wake boarding, are fun ways to spend days on the lake. These activities give you a big adrenaline rush, so it's almost impossible not to have fun!

5. Kayaking and Paddle Boarding

These two activities are incredibly relaxing and are great ways to get amazing, scenic views of the lake! No wonder they are popular activities for lake-goers!

6. Campfires and S'mores

The best way to end a long day on the lake is to relax by the campfire and have a s'more. It's a classic way to finish a day at the lake.

7. The Sunsets

There is nothing more beautiful than seeing the colorful sky as the sun is setting over the lake. It creates a serene and beautiful picture that is impossible to ignore!

8. Holiday Weekends

Spending holidays, such as Memorial Day or the Fourth of July, on the lake is a fun way to celebrate our freedom and independence. Watching fireworks go off over the lake, people are able to commemorate and reflect upon those who have sacrificed their lives as well as those who continue to serve our country.

The lake is an amazing place to share endless memories with friends and family. There is certainly nothing better than life on the lake and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
