Everyone is always talking about how senior year is the scariest time of your college career, other than freshmen orientation of course. Recently, now that I am a junior in college, I have weighed in on the opinion of current seniors, and fellow juniors, and the common outlook seems to be that junior year is way scarier than senior year.
Yes, for some, senior year is absolutely terrifying. You have messed around for three years with no real idea of what the future holds, and then suddenly you're in the final stretch with no idea where the road is going to take you. For those people, senior year should in all aspects be scary.
Then there are the students who have realized their Junior Year of college is the most pivotal point in their college career. Why would this be the case many underclassmen may ask? Here is the answer.
Junior year is the time every "i" must be dotted, and every "t" must be crossed to make it, on time, for the next phase of our lives. Applications for most professional schools are sent in the summer after junior year, and at the beginning of senior year. This means that junior year is the last ditch effort to show what you are capable of as a student. You have to get those volunteer hours in, while at the same time trying to maintain that spotless GPA. For me, my first semester of Junior year, is and will be the hardest semester of my college career. Will it be worth it? I hope so.
For me, and many others like me, junior year has proved itself to be the most difficult, load-bearing, stress-cry inducing part of college, but there is a good side to it. The good side is that hopefully the hard work will pay off and by senior year, you will know where your professional career is going to take you. Hopefully, senior year will be a breeze and one the best year of college. So for all you underclassmen dreading senior year, dread junior year instead. Then, afterwards, you can celebrate senior year like it ought to be celebrated.
