What if I told you it's OK to not be OK? Sounds kind of contradicting, right? We all are going to go through those hard times, there is no avoiding it. Life isn't perfect, although we sometimes like to think it is! It comes with pain, sadness, and hurt. Sometimes that pain in unbearable and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Keep pushing, because there is light I know it is tough due to the society in this day and age.
We live in a society that pushes us towards constant optimism, and trust me I'm all for positivity, I love it! But in reality sometimes you need to let the pain out, and that's when it's OK to cry, scream and let the frustration out. Let me be the first to say that I think life is beautiful and I love living with a positive outlook, but some days are awful. The struggle of insecurities, drowning in work, and loss of loved ones are just a few things that make life seem challenging.
During the days when it seems like nothing is right, there is one piece of advice I can give you. Turn to God. When you think you have no one to rely on, trust me you do. It's OK to not be OK, but in our times of dismay I believe the only thing we can do Is turn to Him.
Now I know not everyone is a religious person, but believe me when I say the only thing you can do when you're not okay is give it up to Him. It's always said that you're in control of your life. The reality is sometimes you can't control every little thing that happens. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding,” (Proverbs 3:5). This verse says it all. It sounds easy, right? Oh, talk to God a little about my problems and everything will go back to being okay. Well, it's not exactly like that. It's going to be tough, obviously you're in a time of pain and suffering and the last thing you probably want to do is take time out and talk to Him about it. Through the pain we grow stronger and being to realize the importance and beauty of this life. Regardless of the pain you are feeling, open up and pray, sing, even talk to God. He's there.
When you're not okay just remember it's OK. Why? Because God isn't going to let you suffer for long. Remember that pain is temporary. Look to Him and let it all out. He's going to listen without a doubt. It's OK to not be OK because no matter what you're not alone, ever. In your darkest time, remember that everything is going to eventually be OK. "He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds," Psalm 147:3.
