A lot of women have been called a bitch at least a dozen times in their life. The difference between myself and many of them is I don’t take this as an insult. Sometimes I have indeed been acting rude, snotty, or mean, which is actually what it should mean. Everyone has bitchy moments, whether it’s gossiping about something we shouldn’t be or judging someone we don’t even know. So in that time we do deserve the comment, “You are being a bitch.”
However, the word is often used out of context. Many times when I’ve acted the way most people would typically expect a male to act, that’s me being a “bitch.” If we ever turn someone away that’s also us being a “bitch,” even though that’s much better than leading someone on. So many of these things that people believe make us a “bitch” are things we don’t need to apologize for. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been called a bitch and my simple reply is “thank you.” The next time someone calls you a bitch don’t apologize unless you actually are acting in a rude and unacceptable manner. Here are eight things someone actually means when they call you a bitch:
- That you are blunt and they don’t know how to react
Women are often called a bitch when they speak their mind and express an opinion that is different from the remainder of the group. When men do the same they are praised for it and if they were to react in any less of a manner they would be called a “little bitch.”
2. You are defending yourself or a friend
I will always stand up for not only myself, but friends and family as well
3. They think you are a feminist
Yes it is 2016 and people still don’t understand what the term feminism means. These people think that every feminist hates men and wants men to bow at every women’s feet. These people have a lot to learn.
4. They feel you are being aggressive
Why are men encouraged to be demanding and aggressive but us women are supposed to be polite and passive? Women can be demanding and aggressive without being rude. If you can’t tell the difference you need to wake up.
5. That they themselves are insecure and must bring you down to bring themselves up
When men or women feel inferior they will try to tear down that powerful woman. They want you to feel shitty about yourself to attempt to gain their own power.
6. You are a acting like a queen
There is nothing wrong with being assertive and taking charge
7. You rejected them
When a guy reaches out with a creepy compliment and you deny him, but he has to come back with how much of a bitch you are. Or maybe he’s a nice guy but not what you are looking for and you politely decline, but he feels the need to feel superior so he calls you a bunch of names, one of those being a bitch. Sorry he has a fragile ego and can’t accept the fact he’s not as wonderful as he seems in his own little bubble. This just shows his maturity level.
8. They feel intimidated by you
Sometimes we are called bitches because people feel intimidated by us and they don’t know how to react. I would rather be a bitch that isn’t afraid to chase what she wants than a girl who waits for something to come to her any day!
