If you are like me, you might have hit a point in your college career where you feel like the major you are pursuing isn't the right one. You're unhappy, you have no interest in learning the subject anymore and you're completely unsure about whether or not this is the right path. I was a junior when I decided to change my major and it has been the best decision I have made so far being in college. Not only am I happier and less stressed, but I am positive about the future that awaits me. If you're feeling like you're no longer happy with the major you are in, don't feel like it's too late to change it.
College is a time where we are finding ourselves and our true purpose in life. Not everyone will find it during these four years, but many find at least the basis of what they want to do in the future. If you're feeling like you no longer like what you're doing, change it. It might keep you in college an extra year or two if you change it later in the game, but it's always better to make these choices now rather than later. You don't want to be sitting in a job 10 years from now being miserable and hating what you're doing. Yeah, not every job is going to be fun and games, but you shouldn't hate your career and continue working and being unhappy. That's why it's important to make these decisions now.
Even if you decide to stick with your major despite being unsure about it, it's okay. A major in college serves as a guide in learning the ins and outs of the careers that come with that degree. Don't feel like if you major in the subject that you're limited to certain jobs. For example, having a business or accounting degree doesn't mean you'll just sit in an office crunching numbers. You can also open up your own business using the skills you learned in your courses. Research the careers that you can get with your degree and you might find a few that interest you.
Pursue the things that you love. Find the major that best matches your abilities and passions and I promise your future will look much happier and brighter. Don't think that what you like to do are just hobbies; they are signs so follow them! And like Steve Jobs said, "The only way to do great work is to love what you do."
