Maybe you have no idea what's going on with politics. Or, maybe you know everything there is to know. If you don't know much about politics, that's okay, but one thing you should know is that voting in the primaries is extremely important-especially in this race.
The 2016 democratic presidential race has never been as close as it is this year. Opponents Hilary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have been neck and neck in the polls. In Iowa, the first state to hold primaries, Hilary Clinton won over her opponent, Bernie Sanders. This may seem like a huge advantage, but the race isn't over yet.
Bernie has a strong support from the young voters. Unfortunately, young adults are some of the least likely people to vote. Thankfully, there was a record amount of young voters in Iowa. Sanders' team is hoping that that record is inspiring more young people to vote. If Sanders is able to win in more states, he will be the democratic presidential candidate.
Maybe you're not "feeling the Bern," and you want to vote for someone else-that's okay. You should still go out and vote in the primaries. Every vote makes a difference and will help support your candidate.
So, why should you vote? Many people think that one vote doesn't make a difference, but they are terribly wrong. Each vote makes a huge impact, as seen in Iowa. Clinton and Sanders were so close in votes, a coin toss was conducted to determine who would win.
The next primaries will be held in New Hampshire. Either Sanders or Clinton could win since O'Malley dropped out of the race after having low votes in Iowa. The primaries will be held in New Jersey in June, so you have plenty of time to research your options, and be a proud voter in the primaries; because one vote can really make a difference in this race.
