Anyone from Fairfield, Connecticut knows that the phrase "There's no place like home" could not be more true. I might be bias, but Fairfield, Connecticut is one of the best towns on this earth. I've been in love with my hometown for as long as I've been alive, however going off to college this past fall really put it in perspective just how good people from Fairfield have it. It didn't take long for my friends and I to realize we would take back in an instant anytime we've taken Fairfield for granted. I've realized that when trying to tell new friends at college about Fairfield, there's just too much to put into a single idea how great Fairfield is. It's a town that took maybe 2 days to start to miss desperately, and here's why.
1. The Seasons
There's no greater joy than getting to experience all four seasons in Fairfield. It makes the going back to school a little easier once the leaves begin to change, the holiday season that much more exciting once the snow falls, the spring time much more cheerful when the flowers begin to bloom, and summer much more sunny when the heat and sunshine fills the town.
2. The Beach
Whether it's driving to Sasco with friends before school, or heading there as soon as the last bell rings, relaxing on a weekend, or soaking up the sun, Fairfield beaches are like no other happy place. The idea of having not only one, but five public beaches plus Lake Mohegan all just minutes away is something I truly missed within a day of being on campus. The beaches really speak to the serenity that Fairfield provides.
3. The Schools
As much as we didn't think it at the time, the Fairfield Pubic School system is incredible. Every college student has their favorite classes, teachers and memories that they hold dear to their heart from high school. The Fairfield Public School system truly cares about their students and helps them prepare for college life as best as they can, and for that, we are all thankful.
4. The FOOD.
Don't even get me started. There's no words, none. NOTHING compares to Fairfield food. To name a few, Doughnut Inn and Country Cow in the morning, to the Pantry, Chefs, Pronto, or Firehouse for lunch and Quattro Pazzi, Colony, Centro, Archie Moore's, Fin, Wild Rice, Nauti Dolphin, Bodega for dinner and the endless amount of dessert options... it's safe to say I'm ready to stuff my face at Thanksgiving.
Although I can name about 800 more reasons as to why Fairfield is the best, I know I don't need to, because anyone from Fairfield knows just how great it is, and how great it feels to go home. It's my home, and I couldn't ask for anything different.
