We have reached a point in this society where going out on dates has decreased significantly. We live in a day in age where some people do not value the importance of dating like it used to be. I think what people fail to remember that although dating is intimidating and quite daunting, it can also have a positive impact on your life alone. When you go out into the world and experience things and moments with someone that you have never done before you begin to realize what you do and do not like. The time has come to toss aside your checklist and to go out on dates with people that you just are not that sure about.
When dating, it is important to “go with the flow.”
When people enter the dating world they can sometimes become closed off and become completely nervous in an instant. When you are dating it is important to remember to keep an open mind. We all have these expectations and a picture in our heads of a date with a person and how it will turn out. I think the best thing to do before you do go out on a date is to not think at all and just “go with the flow.” It is great to have all of these dreams and fantasies, but in the end, you just become disappointed if it does not meet your standards.
Dating can cause personality development.
Dating is not just about getting to know someone new, but the person you are really getting to know is yourself. We begin to develop our own personality with the people that we interact with in our day-to-day lives. It is a crazy thought to even conjure up that when you go out on a date with someone you are essentially going out on a date with yourself. You are stepping outside of your comfort zone and you are now entering a realm of uncertainty. This realm is probably one of the best places that you have ever come across. It has allowed you to make decisions you would have normally not made and has made you truly think if you like what that person has said. Dating is not just about learning about someone new because at the end of the night it can cause a great sprinkle of personality development.
Dating causes you to experience failure.
I think that this reason is one of the reasons why people do not like to date anymore. People have already told themselves that this date is going to end up in failure so why am I even going to go out on this date? Yes, I have gone on some dates that have not worked out, but what is important to remember is that I went out on that date. I met with someone whom I was not too sure about and I stepped outside of my comfort zone. People view experiencing failure as the worst possible thing in the world. What they forget to remember is that if it were not for those moments of failure, then you would not have learned something in the process.
Dating can cause you to try knew things.
When we go out on a date we usually expect that the person who is taking us out has everything planned and we are not positive of what exactly is in store for us. I have been on several dates where I have tried new things and I still use those things in my life. Going out on multiple dates has caused a ripple affect on me of now loving boba, Indian food, shooting at a range, hikes and so much more. Dating opens up a different realm of possibilities that you probably never realized until experiencing it. If it were not for that one date, then you may not be doing or liking one specific thing in your life.
Dating will help you find out what exactly you want in a person.
Let's really be honest with ourselves here that before we even enter a date we think we know exactly what we want. An important aspect to remember is that the next person that we do go out on a date with is that they can completely change our views and thoughts of what we “thought” that we wanted. Dating a bunch of baboons with help us filter out what we do not want, but if you do date a person who has something that you are attracted to, then it can give you idea of what you hope to see in your future companion. Dating gives you the opportunity to have a deep relationship with an individual and to see if this is something that could work out.
