During your twenties, your life gets flipped upside down as you learn to be an adult or at least act like one. Some go straight from school into a full time job, while others choose a job and work their way up, or even some take adulthood to travel and explore the world with their new freedom. No matter which path you choose, you need the best support system you can find, which for me is my friends.
Life is not always fair, pretty or fun. Having your friends around to catch you when you fall or to help put you back together when things get rough is a must. Some people invest so much of their time in boys, looks, or their career that they wind up disappointed when all of their efforts leave them empty handed.
Your friends are the ones that will be there when you have had a bit too much to drink and need to be taken care of. Your friends will be there to encourage you not to give up or to go in a different direction when you do not get the job or promotion you’ve been working towards. Your friends are also those who are going to come over with your favorite junk foods, movies and hold you while you speak incoherently through your grief of an ended relationship.
That is why I am choosing now to invest my time into being there for my friends and helping them in any way I can. We are all struggling through life as adults in training and we need to rely on each other as much as possible. So for me, I want to be the person that my friends can call no matter what and know that their life matters to me. These are the friends that I will have for the rest of my life and I want to make sure our friendships are strong because my friends truly mean the world to me and I don’t know what I’d do without them by my side.
