Ready for another fabulous rant? What is with that stupid phrase that says ignorance is bliss? I reject that statement. I think that knowledge is power. In fact, I KNOW that knowledge is power. Isn't that powerful? I think it is way more important for people these days to understand that ignorance isn't bliss. If you don't know what's happening in this world even though it's dark as ever, that isn't blissful. If you are unaware that means you're leaving yourself uneducated, and since when has that ever been a good or "blissful" state?
Just because you are unaware of potentially dark circumstances, that does not mean they are going to swiftly come to an end. These circumstances are still happening, and frankly, leaving yourself unaware leaves you to still have no action towards a brighter tomorrow. Not helping to make this world a better place because you think it doesn't need to change shows you're too blissful in your own world of dark and deep ignorance to actually understand that we need to help the world circulating around us. We need to put our foot down and realize that the human race is begging for help.
Every day the actions of people on this Earth reflects need for us to be knowledgeable and the need for us to make a change. For us to be able to understand what is happening is only the first step. I'm sick and tired of hearing all these people up on their high horses sharing their opinions that only reflect that they refuse to take into account the cold hard facts. When I start to listen to some of the words they speak I wonder not about their morals or how they were raised and what got them to think this way. But I actually wonder how educated they are on the topic.
By no means am I saying I am brilliant. I am not. But I think the beauty of knowledge is having the ability to keep an open mind and not only absorb facts that help support your already created bias. I think if everyone started to really pay attention they could see that we have the potential to propel ourselves forward into a successful and well managed society. Instead we are in a spiral. We are in a downward spiral and we are stuck in the idea of ignorance is bliss and we are all blissful because we are refusing to take the opportunity to realize what this world needs from us… I am more blissful when I have an understanding of circumstances and when I have knowledge on current events. I am more blissful when I know what this world needs from me and what I can do to help. I get more satisfaction from helping people and understanding how they need me what they need from me than I do from ignoring the needs of others. It is time that we use our own opinions and our own knowledge to rule the world not to be blissful in our own ignorance.
The current world is begging for a change, let us not ignore it this time around. Let us start reading the newspaper again. Let us tune into the news every night, but let us change the channel too, let us hear both sides. Stop and talk to the homeless person asking for money, ask how they got there. Talk to one another. Learn perspectives. Gain knowledge. Find power in this knowledge. Use that power and make a change.
