There are just two weeks left in the semester, and finals are looming. As a freshman, I just had the craziest year of my life. College is like nothing I've ever experienced before, but honestly, I can't wait to be home. While I'll miss the nights out late, the freedom and time spent doing whatever I wanted, my friends and brothers, and our beautiful campus, there are some things back home that just can't be beat.
First and foremost, my brother.
There's one problem with being at college: my brother isn't here. My brother is my best friend, even if he pretends to hate me most of the time. (Don't worry Bud, I know I'm your favorite). I can't wait to have a whole three months of playing video games with him, getting fast food because we're too lazy to cook and arguing over who has to walk the dog. I can't wait to be with him again.
My bed and my shower.
This goes without saying. If I have to take one more shower underneath the questionable ceiling of the Bates community bathroom or climb my lofted bed's ladder (which I have a tendency to fall off of) for much longer, I might try and find a way to jump out of our minuscule windows. My bed back home is like family to me. I can't wait to be reunited with it, as well as the furry four-legged friend I share it with.
Work.
That's right, I want to work. Why? I'm so broke that getting a water bottle to work out with is a big financial decision for me. I need to make some money when I get back home. I'm going to need it for next semester.
Late nights with hometown friends.
While I'll miss my friends here at school, I'm ready for a few months with the friends I grew up with, doing what we've always done and catching up after a semester apart. I know I'll always be friends with these people, so I can't wait to make more memories with them.
Home-cooked food and hometown restaurants.
I'm sick of campus food. I'm ready for my parents and grandparents to assault me with every kind of delicious meal they can. I want to eat until I feel like I'm going o explode. And I can't wait to go to my favorite restaurants again, which I've dearly missed here at school. (Five Guys, Glory Days and Coastal Flats, to name a few)
Family vacation.
Like many families, mine is headed to the beach for a week this summer, and I can't wait. It's always my favorite week of the year, since I get to spend a week at my favorite place with my favorite people.
This semester has been amazing, and with only two weeks left—one of which is finals week—I'm sad to see it come to and end. But I'm ready to go home.
