I am a sophomore currently majoring in psychology at Mississippi State. Don't get me wrong I love it up here. I love being in college. However, there are some valid reasons on why high school is better.
First of all, the academics are somuch easier in high school. In high school I got mostly As but still had the occasional B or C and I graduated with a 4.0 gpa. In college I'm making the same grades except I have to actually study and work to get them and then end up with 3.2 gpa. For most people, you have to maintain a certain gpa in order to keep a scholarship so it is extremely frustrating when you don't meet the requirement.
Second thing is that you actually have to be somewhat of an adult. Yeah its fun to be on your own and have all this freedom but if something needs to be done, you're responsible. If you need medicine you have to go the doctor. I don't know about y'all but I hate calling and making appointments. I recently made my friend go with me to get my oil changed because I was scared to go alone. All I'm saying is that, it is very comforting to have your parents around.
Third and finally, college is expensive. In college you have to pay to breathe it seems like. Think about it, every week you have to pay for food, maybe rent, alcohol, an uber, bar covers. It all adds up fast, trust me. Things get even more expensive especially if you go greek. With everything costing money, it almost forces you to get a job which sucks. I personally find it tough to have a job, be apart of greek life, and do well in school. Im still trying to learn better time management skills.
Overall, enjoy your time in high school if you're still there. College definitely is something to look forward to but I've learned to be in the moment and enjoy it.
