I am the oldest of three, and my siblings are twin brother and sister. I must admit that for the longest time, I couldn't stand them. My brother was always trying to beat me up or make fun of me. And my sister was always copying me or trying to hang out with me and my friends. I always hated how they were breathing down my back trying to be my friend.
But as we have grown up, I have come to realize that my siblings really are my best friends.
Having siblings is like having built-in best friends. Because no matter what, they will always love you. I can go to my siblings no matter what the issue may be pertaining to our parents or drama at school. Yes, all siblings fight, and trust me, we fight like cats and dogs. But no matter what, we are always there for each other.
Now it is a different dynamic for each sibling depending on who is the oldest versus the youngest. I am the oldest of three, so I can tell from experience that it is a tough position to fill. Always having to set the perfect example. But the best part is having the ability to teach your younger siblings how to do things! As for a middle child, that would be my brother. He is definitely the most quiet out of the three of us, but he still does have fun.
The best part about being a middle child is your parents tend to ignore them the most, in a loving way. As in, if they do something wrong, parents don't typically notice. And as for the youngest sibling, that would be my sister. She is the most sensitive of us all. The best part about being the youngest is they always get babied. They can never do anything wrong and everyone always gives them anything they can desire, especially if it's a girl.
The hardest part about having siblings is having to leave them. I just finished my first semester of college being 1900 miles away from my family. It was so hard to not be able to hug my sister and laugh with my brother. But I still have the ability to call and talk to them, but it's just not the same.
Anyone who has siblings knows what an amazing privilege it is to have them. You may not be able to see it now, but appreciate them while you are still around.
