Grandmothers have some very special qualities that we don't always take the time to be thankful for. I know I don't. I'm sure some of you can relate to these wonderful little things our Grandmothers do for us.
1) The Historian of the Family
My Grandma knows the detailed lives of every person she shares blood with. Whether it's Great Grandma Lou or my first-cousin once removed, she's got their life story memorized. It makes her a great story-teller, and you learn a lot about the people you're kin to. I loved hearing about what my mom's childhood was like, or figuring out which of my siblings was the worst as a baby (it wasn't me). It's so fun to reminisce with her, because every time I learn something new about the people I've known all my life! She also happens to have about a hundred pictures of me right from the moment I came out of the womb, which is pretty interesting to look at. Forget MyHeritage.com, just go talk to Grandma!
2) You Will Never Starve
I could accidentally glance at a box of Cheese Nips and she's ready to make me dinner number two. My Grandma never fails to feed me, and 9 times out of 10 it's delicious! Not only that, but she just so happens to always have the foods I want. It's really sweet when she starts buying things that I happened to like a few years ago, and just keeps buying them in case I visit. I don't like Peeps anymore, but it still puts a smile on my face when I get them in the mail every birthday, Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. You can't help but feel loved with a Grandma like that. Maybe one day I'll tell her...
3) She Uses Technology for YOU

Some people think it's really annoying when "old people" join social media websites like Facebook or Snapchat. But really, they're not doing it for their own enjoyment. At least, my Grandma isn't. She got a Facebook profile so she could see pictures of her grandchildren, and an email so she could talk to us more. She even texts us now, because she knows I don't like talking on the phone! For someone who didn't grow up with technology, it's really hard to get accustomed too. Snaps and claps for the grandparents trying to join an age of electronics so that they can spend time with their grandkids.
4) In Her Eyes, You've Basically Won a Grammy Just for Breathing
You're heaven sent. Anything you try, you will be the best at. When you started drawing outside of the lines as a kid, she knew you'd be the next Picasso. You sing in the shower? She's already calling people about headshots for you when you hit Broadway. Your Grandma knows you have talent, and she is more than happy to encourage you to follow your dreams. My grandma truly believes I'm beautiful, smart, and talented. It's an overwhelming amount of love and praise, which can really make you blush. But it also reminds me to work hard, and make my Grandma proud of who I am, because she's always believed in me!
5) The Spoiler

My grandma has a tendency to spoil all of her grandchildren, which many grandparents tend to do. As a kid, it made me want to stay at her house more than my own. Every visit gained me a new toy, or some new arts-and-crafts project to work on. Visits to The Dollar Tree were like Christmas for me. Because everything was so cheap, I could get whatever I wanted when I went with Grandma after church. Even now, she'll slip me some gas money, or send me a package while I'm away at school, just because she was thinking about me. <3
6) Irreplaceable
Your Grandma is irreplaceable, whether she's like mine or not. I know that when the day comes for my Grandma to leave us, nothing will ever be the same. I treasure the time I have with her because these days won't be here forever. Every failed attempt at using the internet, every old story, and every piece of advice she's given me has been a blessing. Don't forget to tell your grandmothers how awesome they are for just being them, because they deserve a little praise too.
