Why Going Back To School After Spring Break Is The Worst

Spring break is great, but going back to school afterwards? Not so much.

Nothing on earth is worse than coming back to school after spring break. You're in a summer set of mind and then you're immediately yanked out of it by school a week later. It feels short, it's sweet, and it makes you want summer to come so much faster.

1. You have to go back to the dreaded cold.

If you go to school somewhere other than the south and went on a tropical spring break, there is nothing worse than going back to school where snow could fall at any time. Not only is it frigidly cold, you're not prepared for it due to days soaking it up in sun in a tropical paradise.

2. Your mind is not in school.

Coming back and being ready to learn is nearly impossible. Your mind can't help but wander. All you think about is the number of days there are until summer vacation and all the crazy things you plan on doing then.

3. Homework is a no.

Who wants to do homework after a week of not doing it? I certainly don't.

4. Waking up for class is nearly impossible.

Those 8 AM classes (or any other class before noon) are impossible to wake up for. Hitting snooze at least 10 times happens every morning, and crawling out of your warm and cozy bed becomes even more impossible than it was before spring break.

5. Study for a test? No thanks.

There is nothing worse than a professor that places an exam for immediately after you get back from break. Not only do you not remember anything, but you have absolutely no ambition to study. My GPA can take a hit, because studying is not going to happen.

6. Lectures become longer and longer.

Long lectures become even longer, and minutes pass by as if they were hours. The professors words sound like a heap of nonsense and you can't seem to obtain any knowledge.

7. Your dorm bed seems much more uncomfortable than ever before.

Sleeping in a hotel bed or even your bed at home can seem like a luxury compared to sleeping on a stiff dorm room mattress. Getting a good night sleep on it now seems impossible and your back is stiff for weeks.

8. There's less time to binge watch Netflix.

If you're anything like me, binge watching Netflix is something you do with the majority of your time. Spring break is a great time to catch up on a season or two of Grey's Anatomy or any other addicting television show. But once you return back to school, your time is much more valuable and you're lucky if you can watch an episode a day.

9. You're way more broke than before.

Going on a nice spring break can be a pretty penny, and after you get back, you're even more broke than you were before. You'll start searching everywhere for just a few pieces of change to afford a coffee.

10. You're forced to see all the people you don't like again.

Spring break gives you the great luxury of not being able to see those few people that annoy you to death. It could be those people that are so rude you can't stand it or those who make such stupid comments that you're not even sure how they got into college. Going back to seeing them every few days for the next few weeks is absolute misery.

11. Finals are just around the corner.

The end of spring break signals that finals are coming closer and closer. In a few weeks, you'll be spending all of your time in the library cramming and stress will consume you. It's nearly the worst time of the year, and spring break is just a reminder that it is on it's way.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
