Every Grey's Anatomy fan out there fell madly in love with neurosurgeon Derek Shepard over the last 11 seasons of the show. The reasoning behind the obsession with him is really quite simple: he's McDreamy.

Why Girls Love Derek Shepherd

1. He's good with children and we all know that girls are suckers for a guy who loves kids.

2. He took away Mer's dark and twisty side.

3. And then of course there's the whole "hot doctor saving lives" thing....

4. Even when he's grumpy you still wanna love him.


5. He reassures you that not everyone is perfect and it's ok to make mistakes.

6. The way he talks about Meredith is the way you want your future husband to talk about you. Which is unfortunate for your future husband, because Derek really set the standards high.

7. He reminds you that the bad times are only temporary.

8. He picks up the pieces of a broken Meredith Grey, making you think that Prince Charming is waiting to put you back together one day.

9. He's not afraid of commitment.

10. That face.
