Why Finals Week Is The Absolute Worst

The worst part of the semester is here again. That's right, it's finals week. This is the week that could either secure that you get an A, or cause you to get a C. This is definitely the most stressful part of the semester. It's full of last-minute homework, studying, and emotional breakdowns. Let's face it, finals week is the absolute worst. These are just a few of the many reasons why.

Cumulative finals are the Devil.

Whoever decided to cram 15 weeks of material into one test was obviously trying to make college student's lives miserable. When you have a cumulative final, you find yourself in a panic asking yourself "what all do I have to know?" Also, when you sit down to take the test, you sometimes discover that you studied all of the wrong material. There is no worse feeling than that.

You are running on nothing but junk food and coffee.

Who has time to actually cook during finals week? You may eat nothing but pizza and Easy Mac for days at a time. You will also need coffee to keep you awake during those long, boring study sessions. As for sleep, it is almost non-existent. You may not have a good night's sleep for days (which will only cause you to drink more coffee). Let's face it, your body is not happy with you during this week at all.

You would rather be doing anything but studying.

Netflix, hanging out with friends, watching cat videos for hours: All of these things sound better than actually studying. The worst feeling is when you know you need to be studying, but you'd really rather not. After all, you can totally wait until last minute to study for your cumulative accounting final, right?

Emotional breakdowns every day become totally normal.

Sometimes, especially when you can't focus, you may find yourself crying, while in the fetal position. This becomes a normal part of everyday life during finals week. During these breakdowns, you question everything about college. For example, you may question your major and whether or not you should just drop out. Just make sure you have your mom and dad on speed dial during these times. They will always reassure you that you're going to be just fine.

The end of the semester seems so close, yet so far away.

As the days drag on, you may feel like this semester is never going to end. One week feels like an eternity. However, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The semester is almost over, and turning in that last final is the best feeling on earth. Somehow you will make it through the week, and winter break will be here before you know it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
