Why I Feel More At Home At Concerts

Music has never let me down

Why I Feel More At Home At Concerts
Abigail Ormiston

Music has always been a big part of my life.

Ever since I could remember, I have been around it. My mom always played music and played instruments and my father was a DJ. My brother learned a ton of instruments as well. I joined my school's band in elementary school. I was in band through middle school and high school as well. I was also a part of my high school's chorus.

Music has been my safety net. It has been the one thing that has consistently been available when I needed it. As long as I could remember, I could find something to listen to or play when I needed something to match my mood or make me feel better.

I listen to music when I am sad, when I am happy, or just because. It has been there for everything.

Going to concerts has always been on of my favorite things relating to music.

Concerts feel like home to me.

"How do you feel more at home in a place surrounded by strangers" is one of the biggest questions I get asked when I say that. And my answer is "easily."

Concerts are more than just a place with a bunch of strangers. It is a place to share a common interest in a single place.

People come to concerts because of the bands and music experience. People at these shows have the same interest in artists or bands. Strangers come together for their interest in that artist or band.

Concerts are places to forget what is going on in your world for a few hours and relax.

I feel better going to a concert than any other place to forget about my stress and forget about my life problems. Concerts help me relax by distracting me from what is going on with the music of an artist I'm really into.

Concerts are a way to make friends.

Believe it or not, since concerts are a way of bringing strangers together, they connect and often become friends since they already have something in common. Making friends at a concert is not hard when you talk to a stranger about music.

The feelings concerts give me makes me feel like I belong somewhere.

With the music pulsing through my body, from the speakers, the bass and the thrill of singing along, I feel like I am on top of the world. I never felt more comfortable than I do when I am at a concert. The music gives me a sense of safety and belonging.

As a person that never really fit in with groups or stereotypes, I realized that the people that enjoy the same bands and artists as I do are like me. If I fit in anywhere, it is at concerts that the music gives others the same feeling it gives me.

Concerts are where I want to spend my life.

Let me face it, I never was any good at playing instruments so becoming a famous musician is definitely out of the picture. But I want to be surrounded by that atmosphere for the rest of my life.

I always imagined what I would want to be when I grow up, and now I have decided... A music journalist. So I can spend my life around the one thing that has never failed me or let me down.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
