Why Fall Is The Best

I like it so much more than being allowed to be super pale.

Leaves, fires, and coffees, oh my! Fall brings joy to a person who loves the colder months and the feelings of long clothes on the limbs of the body. Fall, or autumn, is the time of season where this part of the hemisphere experiences good food, holidays, and the short days with extremely long nights. With all this glorious talk of the season, let me point out a few of my favorite things of the start of the wonderful months.

1. Football Season

Let me say this now, I am nowhere near a huge sports fanatic but fall brings the start of several months of pure joy to men and women alike. Many people in the South will cheer on their favorite SEC team (Roll Tide) while they go against the top ranks to the worst ranks of the list. NFL season led me to believe that men could be a type of insane because they literally fall in love with fantasy football to the point where their day will revolve around football and possibly church. This is the time where Friday nights can be spent at the high school to support them on to state just to have football three to four days in a row.

2. Homecoming

OH, WHAT JOY! Homecoming: dressing up in a possibly over a hundred dollar dress while your date looks super uncomfortable in the tie he was forced to wear to match you. This is the best, honestly, for me we had to wear a corsage that literally looked like it was dropping your dress down to the ground, so strapless was not your best friends. This is the one of the biggest dances because it's the first one of the year and your crush would intend to ask you in the cutest proposal ever, or in a text like mine did. Homecoming also tags a long with football as the team attempts to win to make it better, and then you have the maids walking down the field in the middle of the game.

3. Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING

I am a basic white girl, and I will be the first to admit to my basic-ness. With this being said, I love pumpkin spice things, most importantly the coffee. Really, I only love the coffee and everything else is just awkward and I do not know how to contain my feelings for it.

4. The Large Family Meals

I come from a decently sized family, so there will be more than enough food to serve an army. Family dinners are always my favorite because someone will make sweet potato casserole while the another makes mashed potatoes. I am a lover of food at all times, but Thanksgiving and Christmas are my all-time favorite days. Lord, even thinking about it makes me excited!

5. Bonfires

I am a pyromaniac, just like my father, and I enjoy having a bonfire double my height just to see if my neighbor gets upset. Honestly, bonfires pretty much sum up fall.

6. Halloween

I mean, I really don't have to put an explanations.

7. Scary movies

I mean, what better time to watch someone run away from their potential killer in the same overdone movies that just put you on the edge of your seat?!

8. Christmas is upon us!

My mom's favorite time of the year because she is more obsessed with it than Disney.

9. ALL THE OTHER THINGS

There are so many things left unsaid for why I love the start of the cold months like cute clothes, pink cheeks, and the love of leaves and corn mazes. The love of the cold months is something that I am obsessed with because it is naturally acceptable to be pale and have dark hair, it is actually sought after. Fall is the time I feel alive because I do not have to feel like I need to be outside at all hours of the day in scorching hot months to make sure my legs are evenly tanned with the rest of my body, and I also do not have to die from a heat stroke.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
