Why Everyone Needs To Stop Hating On EDM

An uprising genre of music in today's world is known as EDM, or electric dance music. EDM is range of electronic music produced by DJs all over the world, and it is growing as each year passes.

I won't lie, when I first started listening to this music, I was skeptical and not sure how people could enjoy it. Today, it is my favorite genre of music, and I couldn't image my life without it. Despite my love for this music, many people completely hate it and try to put others down who listen to it. My question is, why do people hate on it so much and hate others who enjoy it? Some people say it's a feeling from the music you have to understand to get it, and boy, I am glad I have that feeling. But for real, there are so many reasons to not hate it, even if you don't realize it. Many people in the world don't like new things, so the idea of this music completely turns them off.

When people think of EDM they think of the crazy outfits people put together just to jump around to music on grass or pavement. But trust me, it's more than that. You know the feeling of seeing your favorite artists live? We have the same feeling, but even better. It's a type of music that takes you somewhere else, it's okay to not understand it. But here are some reasons you just lay off the EDM lovers.

1. The bonds I've made with others that are unlike any other.

This is music that brings people together. I have created friendships with others just by spending two days jamming out to music, trading kandis (which are bracelets), sharing water and many hugs. You leave EDM festivals with more love than you came there with.

2. The feeling this music gives you is unlike any other.

This music connects with you. You feel it in your bones as the blending sounds come together. This music brings out all of the different feelings in you; love, happiness, sadness, loneliness and an extreme love for life.

3. It makes people happy.

The excitement, smiles, and pure joy are what people experience when it comes to this music. Why are you going to tear someone down for loving a genre of music so much? Live and let live, people!

4. The lifetime full of memories.

The countless memories, videos and photos I have will always be cherished. These weekends were some of the best in my life. You are carefree and completely in love with life. I bonded with some of the most interesting people from all over the country, and experienced something you can't explain unless you've been there. EDM is a new culture that should be embraced, not torn down.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
