When it comes to listening to an album by an artist, does it ever occur to you of what their first song is called and how it starts? The first song usually grabs attention to the listener because of the title, sound, mood, and meaning. If the first song gets your attention, you probably will be interested to see what the whole album is like as well. Daya’s album Sit Still, Look Pretty had me hooked from the beginning to the end. The title kind of speaks for itself on what the album is about and it’s also one of the hit singles she has out right now.

Sit Still, Look Pretty focuses on the concepts of Daya’s life living as a regular teenager, which a lot of us can relate too. The introduction song on the album Dare starts off with the lyrics, “Dare me to reach a little higher, you can dare me to step over the edge.” I thought this was a brilliant song to start the album off because of she sets the tone with a sweet sound but feisty lyrics. Most of the songs on her album have a fun, catchy vibe with empowering messages.

My personal favorite song on the album is Back to Me, a chilling melody but beautifully written. Back to Me is about a heartbreak from a past relationship and wants to move on from. We all have been through a heartbreak before so we can really relate to her and this haunting song.

All of the other songs on Sit Still, Look Pretty you can’t get enough of include Legendary, I.C.Y.M.I., Thirsty, Love of My Life, Talk, Words, Got the Feeling, We are, and Sit Still, Look Pretty all have an upbeat sound but has an empowering message in the lyrics. Thirsty is one of those empowering songs because women in society are looked at by men in a different way and sometimes it’s not comforting and ridiculous that a male thinks he can say whatever he wants to get our attention. We love how she’s embracing the message in society in a fun catchy way. The song’s title makes it so much more because of how accurate it is.

Then you have the slow ballad-like songs that focus on being in love, heartbreaks, and all that jazz. Cool, U12, and Back to Me get you in the feels as I mentioned before. Every song tells a story from the beginning to end. I always love albums that do an excellent job of telling a story in the music and has a meaningful message. Not all music has to be about sex these days.

I have always looked up to Daya and was anxious to get my hands on her new album when I heard it was coming out. She’s seventeen years old and has 2 hits out already. That’s progress, and man does this album show the progress and talent this girl has inside her. If you are a fan of Daya, empowering lyrics, upbeat tempos, and looking for a new album to listen to on long drives to work. Sit Still, Look Pretty is a good go-to and eventually, you’ll most likely know every song and have a hard time choosing a favorite song to sing at karaoke night with friends.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
