Why Everybody Should Watch the Movie "Hocus Pocus"

In just a few days October will be here, and you know what that means! Every single stations will be showing some kind of Halloween movie. There is an array of movies that you can watch, but there is just one that I think should be required for everybody to watch- Hocus Pocus.

For those of you that don't know what Hocus Pocus is about, a boy named Max and his family move to Salem, Massachusetts. While taking his little sister, Dani, treat- or- treating, they bump into Max's crush, Allison. The trio then goes to a haunted house, where Allison beings to explain the creepy stories about the house. Max unfazed lights a black candle inside the house. This brings back three witch sisters- Winfred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson. Due to the fact that a virgin has to light a candle. So now it's up to Max, Allison, Dani, and a talking cat they meet, to stop the witches from becoming immortal, and reeking havoc on the town again.

First of all, Max is such a cutie! When I watched this movie as a kid i was in love with Max! Also one of my favorite witches was Sarah. Sarah is played by none other than Sarah Jessica Parker. For Sex and the City fans you haven't seen Parker act until you watch Hocus Pocus.

If you love songs then boy is this the movie for you. Now, before you say I don't like musicals! I wouldn't classify Hocus Pocus being a full blown musical, the movie had great musical scenes. Hocus Pocus had songs like "I Put a Spell on You" and "Come Little Children." When you become a die hard fan of the movie you will be belting right along with the songs (and adding them to your Spotify playlist).

What kind of Halloween movie is it without having some element of a cat? Thackery Binx comes through! Thackery Binx is technically a boy who was turned into a cat, but he is one sassy kitty. That helps the group so much, and what happens to him at the end of the movie is just pure cinematic gold (pulls on your heart strings, let me tell you that).

The movie has so many memorable lines! When somebody says to Winfred "Go to hell!" and she replies "Oh, I’ve been there thank you, I found it quite lovely." Another good was also made by Winfred when she said " Why did I have to be cursed with idiot sisters?" A question I think we all question when our siblings do something stupid. I think one of the best lines of the whole movie is "I waited 300 years for a virgin to light a candle."

Hocus Pocus is a cult classic, and one of those movies that you watch any time it comes on TV. Some even dare to say the movie is one of Disney channels best films others say "it's just a bunch of hocus pocus". I guess its up to you to decide!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
