First off, why can only men have the luxury of claiming them as a best friend? Because dogs are this blessing to not only men but everyone. They have stolen the heart of kids, teens and adults. Who else loves those cute videos or pictures of kids growing up with their dogs? It has turn into something more.
You could argue all day that your dog is the cutest but girls seem to have this higher connection with them. They feel what you feel and sometimes it is just nice after crying over a dumb break-up to have a dog snuggle up to you under the covers in bed. I mean can a diamond do that? Comfort you in a time of need? I thought a diamond is typically given to you by a male so how could looking at a reminder of the break-up help? Dogs take the comforting to a lovable level that no one can deny doesn’t make them feel better.
Often during exams, students stress out. There is a dog for that now. Who do you normally see soaking up with love and kisses from some puppies when a college brings them in during finals? GIRLS! We are way more willing to love on some puppies in public than guys are. Crazy, right? Not really, because we find this warmth in dogs that makes our hearts flutter. Can a diamond make your heart flutter? The meaning behind it might makes you do back flips but the diamond itself doesn’t.
As annoying as my dog can get (a very energetic dachshund), he comes as a big joy in my life. There is literally nothing better than coming home from college for the weekend and him being so happy to see me. You can’t get that from a person. He has these big brown eyes that when they look at you begging for food, you wonder how such a sweet thing can be given to us.
Needless to say, I am a little biased towards dogs, having two in my life. Although, I am not biased on if a purebred or mutt is better. I can’t tell you that a dog is the perfect thing for you because it is different for everyone. But being a female with two loving dogs, it is hard to not say they aren’t my best friends. Adventures with them are priceless and the way they are so happy is hard to not see a little light in their eyes. So I’d rather have a dog than a diamond, unless of course the perfect day rolls around. But for now, dogs will be just perfect.
