Why Dogs are Human's Best Friend

A true best friend is one that will lick it's butt right before licking your face.

Why Dogs are Human's Best Friend

I love dogs. Dogs of all shapes, sizes, colors, breeds, and personality. If I could own seventeen pups without going insane and driving my boyfriend and my family insane, I would. If I could replace a select few (or all) people with dogs, I would. It might sound crazy to some, but I am not alone in these thoughts. Dogs traveled to the Americas only about 10,000 years ago, but they did not get there by themselves. They migrated with humans over seas and over land for miles and miles as best friends. What more proof could people want to show how important dogs were and will be forever? Here are a few reasons I came up with to show how dogs are truly human's best friend:

A dog always has a shoulder (or tummy) for you to cry on.

Had a bad day? Well, your dog is ready to receive you into his/her furry arms. Did you get yelled at by your boss? Don't worry, your dog won't yell at you. Just get you very slobbery and covered in fur. My dog can usually sense when I'm upset or stressed and he always knows how to cheer me up: lick my face and lean on me. Is that just me? I'm not sure.

A dog will always take your side.

Even the smallest fluff ball will protect you from the evils; whether it be an attacker, a cat, or that giant robot that sucks up all the dirt on the floor, or that awful mail man that keeps knocking on our door! Sometimes you feel betrayed by a friend or your significant other lied to you, but guess what? A dog won't betray or lie to you! He/she will always be on YOUR side.

A dog will always eat more than you.

Dogs are always hungry. Dogs always want food. Dogs will eat absolutely anything. Does that describe you as well? Well, they'll do double that. Have you ever seen a Labrador Retriever eat their food? It's both entertaining and horrifying because it'll be there for one second and then you'll look back and it's gone. That probably describes all dogs, though. So, don't worry about that extra piece of cake you ate, because your dog has already eaten the rest of the cake.

A dog never judges you.

Those drunken nights, those ugly shirts you bought from the thrift store, the test you failed, that time you farted in front of your crush; your dog doesn't care! Your fluffer will never judge you no matter what because he/she loves you to the moon (made of treats) and back. They will never make fun of you for falling asleep on the floor or putting too much blush on. I mean, they eat their own vomit, who are they to judge, anyways?!

A dog is always up for a nap.

Sleeping puppies are one of the cutest things in the entire world. Why not have that next to you while you sleep? Dogs tend tend to immediately go into sleep mode right after eating or getting zoomies around the backyard, just like you! Would your best friend be willing to be your pillow while you nap? Probably not, but your dog will!

A dog is always happy to see you.

I love being greeted my dog when I get home because he is so, so, so happy to see me. Even more so than my boyfriend. A dog will jump in your face, then your lap, then lick your face until you don't need a shower anymore! Your best friend will probably be just as pissed off about something as you are or just as tired, so they will probably not do that, but your TRUE best friend will!

A dog will never stop loving you.

The main reason a dog is human's best friend is the intensity of the love they hold. No one human can hold as much love and affection as a dog can. Even the angriest or the craziest dog has a big heart waiting to break through with just a little love from humans. There's a quote that I see all the time: "What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs." Wouldn't that be great? A world of selfless people, just like human's best friend.

So, go hug your fluffy pup! Or go adopt your next bestie!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
